The last 10 years, we've watched as we went head to head with Cincinnati (in C-USA) and saw how many times Xavier was able to beat Cincinnati. The potential (for a rivalry) is there. Some of that just has to develop over time.

I just appreciate the support of (university president) Father (Michael) Graham, Dawn Rogers and the entire Xavier community. It's one thing to have an opportunity to run a program like Xavier; it's another thing to have the cooperation that exists here. This is another example of what keeps Xavier so special.

You're talking apples and oranges now. Cincinnati came up and beat us in '83. Cincinnati should have beaten Ohio State the year they won the national championship (2002). His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive.

Your opponents realize that it's been 'X' amount of years since you've been beaten. It's tough, you get everybody's best game. They want to knock you off your pedestal. That's a challenge in itself.

Last year, we went to Cincinnati and played St. Xavier,

Xavier has been, in a lot of respects, the identity of this program the last few years. It's almost like he adds prestige to the team. In a lot of ways, he's helped raise the level of the other kids. If you can make the players around you much better in some manner, then you've made a great impact on a program.

We have our work cut out for us. They shut us out in the first game last year and we haven?t beaten them in two years. I wish I had another week or so to prepare, but we don?t so we just have to go out and do our best.

I don't think it is more important for Louisville. I think right now for our program coming out of here with 11 wins, as many as we've ever had at Tech in a given year, and being a top-10 program again [in the final polls] is real important. And this game makes a statement -- a big statement -- about that.

I'm just trying to take care of business on the field right now. I haven't really thought about the season. I've been packing like I'm going to Cincinnati.
