That was a big, big block by Adam. That's what we need at the end of games. Defense. Ferris State is a great team. They made us a better team tonight. This win is a big character builder.

We have some really good young players. And they're coming and getting better everyday. The more guys you have producing the better your team is going to be. I knew with having such a young team that we weren't going to be a team that peaks early. We are still in a learning process and we are getting better. That's why I'm excited about this team down the stretch. Our group still has a lot of room for improvement.

We had our third team tailback in there. I called the fake field goal. We wanted to keep the clock going. If we didn't make it, so what? Our protection guy called the fake punt. If I was Miami, I would've been glad to see the fake punt.

Until we all learn to play with each other, we just have to get better each night and the offense will come. This was a big character builder for the team. I know it's early in the season, but we've got to start somewhere with this group of guys, and when we can win games like that against a good team like Tampa Bay, it's a big building block for us.

The only frustrating thing is that we haven't had all the pieces in place. The group that's healthy has gotten a lot better. They have great team chemistry, so really, and it's even hard for me to believe, that I've really enjoyed coaching this team. None of us like losing, but it's a pretty mature group. I hope for their sake we get a few more wins.

I am really, really excited. I have been very pleased with the progress of the team and the improvement we have made in the last seven weeks. As a staff we have stressed working hard, playing hard and doing things right. This team has already started to gel. It's been great working with a group of young men that listen and tries.

Being on a team really shaped my time at Auburn. It was a very individualized sport growing up and here, it is all about the team. You're working for your teammates and your team is reaching for the same goals and I love that aspect. Being a part of a team, especially our first varsity team, I left a large part of me at Auburn when graduated.

From my experience, when a team is faced with adversity, the best course of action is to simplify things. Our play away from the puck has to be a priority. We have a talented group of players here, but we have to make more of a commitment to team defense. Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. I told those guys we won for two reasons. Character No. 1. We really showed character. We overcame adversity. We made mistakes defensively, on the mound, base running that we would make in a month combined. But because this team's got character, we continued to battle back. And the second reason was our offense. They kept us in the game, they kept coming back.

You can't worry about that. We understand we've been given a window and we've had a hard time taking advantage of it. You never know, you can wake up the next day and the team may not want you. I don't think anybody is worried about getting traded right now. We understand the business. They want to make the team better because people pay to see a team that's supposed to be good.

Jermaine O'Neal

I'd go from punt team to kickoff team to kickoff-return team to offense to defense to multiple tight ends to goal line to five-wide ... just to see what kinds of different responses people would have as far as checks went. The plays weren't as significant as seeing how sharp we were mentally.

I am very proud of the team. We could have folded at halftime, but they came out and played hard and battled. We are a young team and we have been learning all year. This was another one of those lessons. We did not give up and I am very proud of that.

I can't say enough about this whole team. With the injuries that we had, there were a lot of team and individual goals we didn't accomplish. But I have never had a better group of kids. There were no discipline problems, the team got along well, and they worked well with each other. You couldn't ask for a better group.
