en Our core competence is making beautiful and creative space that makes people feel special. So they took that care and put it in a medical setting. Everybody was motivated by a personal experience. We tried our best to put ourselves in the shoes of the patients and families and how they might feel.

en I can feel it when there's too much medical and not enough personal, and that's the most important balance to keep. We've done episodes where there's a ton of personal and not very much medical. Works just fine. But when the medical sort of overtakes the personal, the show doesn't feel like the show.

en I have always been running other people's businesses, and I wanted to run my own. I was in the medical field so I enjoy helping people. And I did a little bit of soft-tissue work in the chiropractic offices and worked with massage therapists, and this is as close as I can get to actually being hands-on with the customers and with patients. But I can make people feel good, and that makes me feel good.

en The clinics are growing in terms of patients and they are expanding their services. Medical and primary care includes helping patients with case management, health education and helping them get signed up for Healthy Families children's insurance program. It's federally funded and was started several years ago. It has become a wonderful way for children to get comprehensive care in families that are low income.

en We definitely feel the constitution for the state of Alabama should be rewritten. We also feel there is a need for more support of our elderly people to help them get medical care.

en Physicians must be free to make clinical determinations, in accordance with medical standards of care, that best safeguard a woman's life and health. Women and their families, along with their doctors, are simply better than politicians at making decisions about their medical care.

en It offers patients the opportunity to get traditional care as well as complimentary, nontraditional care. We've seen how it makes a clinical impact on the patient. They seem to feel better. What Edie is doing is extremely innovative and groundbreaking.

en Fighting illness or managing the care of a loved one is tough enough. People shouldn't have to fight with the complexities of the health care system at the same time. One of the factors to come from our May 15, 2002, Journal of the American Medical Association study was that one-third of the diabetic patients in our study who had problems were not wearing the therapeutic footwear. Another point was that our study patients, on average, wore slippers-not their shoes-three hours per day. A little patience in fitting can reap the benefits of compliance. Fortunately, there is a wider variety of shoes available for people with diabetes than ever before. But one thing will never change: function first over fashion!
