[Moreover,] I believe that we as a community have an obligation to provide healthy and wholesome opportunities for kids, ... And I think what we do here in the long run may prevent kids from getting into trouble.

Their parents still need care and it's important for us to provide that wholesome place for kids to come and participate in activities.

Studies show that the time of day when most kids are liable to get into trouble is between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. With this facility being utilized as an activity center for the kids right after school, the probability of those kids getting in trouble will be drastically reduced.

It's important to get the community involved. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. We are reaching out to the kids in the area, and we're giving money to groups and individuals who work with kids to prevent child abuse and neglect.

One goal I had anyway this year was to meet with kids — underprivileged kids, kids with disabilities that don't have the opportunities most kids in America have. We were going to do that anyway, so it will blend right into our program.

When it comes to on-the-go snacks for their kids, moms want more than just convenience; they want great tasting and wholesome snacks their kids will keep coming back for. Our new Goldfish 100 Calorie Pouches deliver all that -- plus the Goldfish fun that kids love.

The kids have surpassed our goal of $5,000. We are so very proud of them all. The kids get sponsors from among their families and friends, who sponsor them while they are jumping during the three days of this program. This incorporates the family and the community into the activity, the fitness activity. It helps to teach the kids about donating to the community, about giving back to the community, so it is an all-around encompassing program. The kids really take a great deal of pride in raising this money, and they develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment from this.

It's an asset for the community because we have a place for the kids to come. That's why we're rebuilding this year -- for the kids, not the adults. It's going to be fun again. It won't be too long.

Couple that with our rich 70-year history of providing opportunities for kids, and we have the making of a unique partnership that will benefit the community's youth for a long time to come.

My experience with juveniles is that kids have a tendency that, when they start getting in trouble, they get into more and more trouble quickly, ... And the early intervention that a juvenile assessment center will provide us will allow us to intervene and disrupt that process quicker.

I think this is a truly great endeavor, ... The kids in this city need things like this to boost their confidence and help them to succeed in school. Anything we can do for these kids will go a long way. Obviously, Progreso Latino is doing their part in the community.

We have two kids there. Both are very competent kids -- smart enough to understand what we're talking about -- and they will figure it out. We've got to find opportunities for both of them. We'll take it a day at a time and go from there. As I've said all along, with these two guys on the club, I don't want to see either one of them sit for too long a time and not participate. It's advantageous to both of them to do it that way.

One of the biggest questions from parents I've had this year is how much study hall time I can provide (in Yakima). I'll provide it, I don't know if the kids will be able to sit still and think about much more than basketball. Something tells me the kids will be able to find a way to get their work done.

In some cases, this will provide a solution for councils. The public forgets that we have a statutory obligation to deliver education for every child, and some kids just cannot thrive in a mainstream school.

These kids are just getting in trouble because the whole community has allowed them to do that.
