Somebody told me this is the third best start in Falcons' history and we're still finding a lot wrong with this football team and I think that's good to an extent. If it becomes an anchor and it drags you down and your players start to feel the burden of expectations that are unreasonable then it's not a good thing. I don't think we're at that point. I think we're at a good spot. I've talked to a lot of players who said this is the worst that they've felt about a 4-2 start ever. Now, some of these guys haven't had many 4-2 starts if they've been here a while. We just have to keep it in perspective.

The good thing is I cooled off toward the end of the half and at the start of the second half I didn't score a bunch. The other guys on our team started showing up, and that's what they can do. We've got good players on this team besides myself. I feel like sometimes they get overshadowed by my scoring.

I don't grade (the quarterbacks) in the press, but the best players play. Cole doing a good job is good for our football team. That's great. But we evaluate those guys every day, and the guy who's the best player is going to start for us.

Since Mike resigned, we've all talked about how they would react. We told our guys we needed to get off to a good start and play with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. We got off to a good start and that kind of nullified any motivational edge.

I think anything you impose on players, the first reaction is going to be, 'Nah, I don't want to do that,' ... We fight a little bit about change. We got to learn how to start a football game. We have to start faster out of the blocks. The beginning wasn't good. Right now, we're not a very good football team.

I pick the best possible players but others are better than us. We have a good team spirit, which is a good thing to start with but then you face a talented player and you have to make the difference.

I like starting the way we start. We've gotten off to good starts with four perimeter players and a big. That's been a good out-of-the-gate lineup.

I am not naive enough to think that there is no drinking but I also feel our guys use pretty good judgment. When you start making rules like zero tolerance, zero drinking . . . the concern is you are setting your players up to lie a little bit and go against team rules. As a coach, you want to have your players be honest with you.

No, I don't feel any relief [that he's gone]. [Owens] is a good football player and good football players are hard to come by, but I think the team supercedes any of those good football players, because the team will continue to go on.

I told myself not to try to think about it too much. I felt not bad actually, not super but pretty good overall. It was a good win especially because we wanted to get off to a good start and this is a team we should beat.
