Any plan to stimulate the country's sagging economy can't succeed unless the states are part of the economic recovery, ... And yet the stimulus package offered by the president fails to provide a single dollar in aid to the states.

We cannot have a full economic recovery, we cannot ensure the security of this country, while the states are in the midst of the worst fiscal crisis in half a century. Direct aid to cash-strapped states is perhaps the most direct way to immediately jump-start an ailing economy.

Bush tax cut is it really wasn't originally meant to be an economic stimulus plan, and so even if this plan is passed, a lot of people are wondering does this provide enough of a ... shot of adrenaline into the economy to make a difference before the crucial 2002 elections?

The Senate was right to reject what in large measure was nothing more than a Democrat spending proposal. The package fails in its basic purpose to stimulate the economy.

Clearly the economic news we're getting at the moment is better than expected, part from the States but also from Europe with ZEW survey today. Nine days in a row is a very strong run, but the jury is still out as to whether economic recovery can become established.

A soft-landing economic background is good for the dollar. The dollar has risen strongly since June on the improving economic outlook in the United States.
