en That's going to be the big bugaboo. We need to set ground rules about what land we should talk about and let the public know that we're not talking about parks or libraries.

en I certainly don't want them in our parks and one of those parks happens to be in my ward. Let's face it, who wants billboards in our parks? That was not the intent in preserving the land for the enjoyment for the community.

en I don't see any justification for the federal government owning land, other than the Statue of Liberty and maybe a few parks, maybe a few refuges. But to just own land to do nothing with it I think is a disservice to the Constitution.

en Many of us dismiss talk that does not convey important information as worthless - meaningless small talk if it's a social setting or "empty rhetoric" if it's public. Such admonitions as "Skip the small talk, " "Get to the point," or "Why don't you say what you mean?" may seem to be reasonable. But they are reasonable only if information is all that counts. This attitude toward talk ignores the fact that people are emotionally involved with each other and that talking is the major way be establish, maintain, monitor and adjust our relationships.

en I've been with him in public; he's almost annoyingly nice, ... He'll sit there and hold a conversation with people that want to talk football. The next thing you know, they're talking baseball, they're talking, 'Where are you from?' That's just the kind of guy he is. Everywhere I go with him, he ends up holding an extended conversation with a stranger.
