Any land taking has to be approved by Town Meeting.

This is David's opinion — anytime we have anything controversial, we need to be very careful to have everything approved first. They are actually not minutes until they are approved. I know it's confusing, but it is 72 hours after they are approved, not after the meeting.

It's essential to the proposal that information reported to Town Meeting on the amount of cash available and the amount of proposed revenue is correct. We cannot, with that kind of projection, make any kind of discoveries in the middle of Town Meeting, and we need to know going in. Town Meeting can only make a good decision if it has good data.

We could walk out of Town Meeting with an unbalanced budget, which would require additional actions of a future Special Town Meeting.

The T will respect the vote of the Town Meeting. They have asked us not to take any action on the rail bed until the 2006 Town Meeting, and we won't.

That's an awful lot of money, but anytime the town can purchase land, I have to say I'm for it. The town needs to do some land banking.

Some people were calling this (moratorium) a back door taking of land. That is just not going to fly in this town.

Over the last year, the foundation has had many discussions about what to do with that Cedarville land. Those discussions led to a focus on all town-owned land and what the highest and best use for each is. Looking in the best interests of the town, we decided Plymouth should come up with some scenarios and conduct a comprehensive review of all the properties that it owns. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions.

We've got the land approved through the city. It'll be in Ross City Park, just south of the swimming pool. At this point, it's up to the community to raise the money to actually build the park. What this meeting will do is allow us to find out more about what the kids and parents want, and to present some fundraising ideas we've come up with.

You have to evoke a sense of responsibility in the townspeople to participate in the government. But the bottom line is that it's an individual choice. An open town meeting is more time-consuming than other types of government we conduct, but I don't think it's too much to ask residents in towns that still have a town meeting to participate.

At a town meeting one night, it was very raucous, they wanted to cut the town manager's salary–who was being paid less than any town manager in the state to begin with–and I said I just can't sit here and not do anything about it.

This contract, if approved, puts them on the same wage scale that the other employees in town are paid from. We are pleased. This has been such a pressing matter, one of the top priorities for the town. It?s taken hours and hours between all of us to get this done.

As of right now, the answer is that I?m running again. But I?m not making an announcement until after the financial town meeting, I?m busy being the town administer.

We're optimistic about [having a meeting] this week when the commissioner is in town and Mr. Benson is in town. The governor has made it a goal of hers. I think those meetings are being set as we speak.

People don't know that there is room for negotiation and that it is Town Meeting who decides. I feel it is like Congress, it is the legislative branch of town government.
