Moving up to Class A this spring will be interesting. We will need to count four out of five scores instead of three out of four. The depth factor could be an issue.

We had no depth. They only count the top four scores. Orlando had 18 kids competing on Level 10, and most of the other teams had at least 10.

I think the depth of our team was a factor. We've got six kids that can count, at any time, and we have a lot of consistent players. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. I thought the conditions were tougher today, and our kids competed real well.

The kind of depth they have is quality depth. They stay at the same level when they bring guys in off the bench. It keeps teams at bay. It's been a major factor in their success. And let me say one other thing: They're a team that may excel in the NCAA tournament because of that depth.

However, ELL scores don't count. But you have to request that the state pull the ELL scores out of the data. After they did that, the district made AYP.

Some say the rankings are as complex as the BCS. We pride ourselves trying to tweak it each year and trying to develop it. The best way is sum up all the parts. Both quality and good quantity will score the nation's No. 1 class. You can still rank high if you have only 15 to 16 [commitments in a] class ... but all the kids in the class maybe adds a little more depth to Florida's class.

I really like our depth this year. The kids have great goals and they really want to be consistently good. We have more depth, and I think that means more low scores.

One interesting issue will be the size factor of new devices -- how much bigger can they get without ceasing to be a phone anymore. People want the small form factor but they want a screen big enough to view. So we will see some very innovative form factors that will give you a bigger display in a device that is still manageable as a phone. There are some very exciting products on the drawing board today.

We have to look at the reasons companies are moving overseas. It used to be a cost issue. Now it's a human capital issue. They aren't moving there for low-cost labor. They are moving there because they can find high-quality candidates.

Brad Hodge can count himself unlucky not to be included. It is fair to say that the (selectors) were looking for Brad to put together some really big scores in (domestic first-class) cricket to consolidate his position in the test squad but unfortunately that hasn't happened. The decision on the make-up of the fast bowling quartet was not an easy one, given that we are without Glenn McGrath for this series.

It was a tough field and really tough sectional. I'm a little disappointed with our scores down the line. Once again, I always like to count scores in the 70s, we get four in the 70s, who knows.

We're excited. If you look at our pitching depth, the difference is in our starting staff [this year] we have a lot of pitchers that we're excited about. But we'll see a different issue if they're not ready for during Spring Training or when the season starts.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

This group is very talented, but with the spring there are more events and you can only spread the kids so far, so depth will be an issue. We have a handful of young girls who are working very hard, but it's not the talent level we've gotten in the past. We don't know if they will be impact people or not. They are probably a year away.

Even though it is snowing out, people can come and get into the spring spirit. The pieces are upbeat and so moving. The overall spring look of the performers is spectacular, it's going to be a beautiful and eloquent spring Mozart performance.

I was surprised that we didn't see anybody moving away from 152 to either 145 or 160. With such a talented and deep weight class, there are always kids moving away. Not this time. We even had kids moving into this weight class.
