He wants every play to be a home run. There's a sense where, as a coach, you want a quarterback who feels that way ... but at the same time you want a guy who makes sure that his No. 1 priority is to take care of the football.

It's definitely a friendly rivalry. He's a great quarterback. I'm happy when he makes a great play. We played together in Little Guy football. We were both offensive and defensive linemen. We didn't play quarterback until the eighth grade. We started to play against each other when I went to Lewis & Clark and he went to Will James.

It's not a denial thing. It's not like it's not happening. But, to me, you have got to play football first. We're not trying to be financial guys, accountants or businessmen. We're football players. My understanding is he has been OK'd by the (UF football) coaching staff to play both. That makes me believe they don't want him as a quarterback because they usually don't like those guys to play two sports.

If God created a football team, Pastor Hawkins would be the quarterback. When he was on God?s field, he always ran the play the coach told him to. Northwest Arkansas lost a difference-maker when Pastor Hawkins went home. I lost a good friend.

He just loves playing football. We need more guys like that. He just loves playing football. He doesn't care who gets the credit. He goes out there and makes plays ... and if someone else makes the play, he's just as happy.

I have to give credit to my strength and conditioning coach and to my quarterback coach for me being in good enough shape to run like that at the end of games. Coach Mike always makes me run after practice even though sometimes I get mad. But I appreciate it because it has paid dividends down the stretch.

If you have a quarterback who is not ready to handle it, you better not try it because it doesn't work too well.
