That is going to depend on how Ricky acts. Is he going to be the type of citizen the Dolphins found him to be last year? Is he going to stay drug-free? In the next year, people are going to be watching him very closely. At this point, were I him, I would be doing whatever the league asks me to do.

This is a league decision, and we are disappointed in what it means for Ricky and the team. Ricky did an outstanding job for the Dolphins, not only as a player but also what he added as a person to the team's chemistry and to our overall success.

This is what we did last year. We found a way to win. Earlier in the year, we found ways to lose these type of games. Maybe this is a turning point, and we will win some of these games.

[Hendrick's son, Ricky, killed in a plane wreck last year, had worked closely with Busch.] Ricky had so much confidence in Kyle and the structure of the two teams, and to see the two cars run like that, and Kyle to win, and become the youngest guy.... ... Kyle has done a super job. He got a lot of criticism early on that he was too young. But I'm just really proud.

We are still working free agency. I think last year our most productive period was about from now even on past the draft. It's still ongoing. There won't be as many big-name people come down, but there's a lot of good need-type, value-type people still out there.

How far we go this year will depend on how we hit. I can't see us being out of a game with our pitching and defense. If we hit we're going to have a tremendous year. If we don't hit, we'll probably end up 14-8, which we've been for four years in a row now. I'll be very disappointed if we don't compete seriously for the league title.

It has to hurt Miami, as effective as the two back rotation was for them last year. Ronnie looked to be a guy who could handle more responsibility and now he'll have the chance. But it's such a shame. After all the work Ricky put in and all the work the Dolphins put into him, it's sad for a guy who seemed to have his act back together.

Last year we reached 355 fifth-graders, at a cost of $6 a student, ... We did this with the help and sponsorship of SFA, Nacogdoches ISD, Coca-Cola, Nacogdoches Safe and Drug Free and others. People stepped up throughout the year, and we received very positive feedback. It was a great adventure, and we will do it again.

A lot of people beat us bad last year, so I guess all 12 teams last year is a rival, ... The Dolphins vs. the NFL. That's the new rivalry.

We're concerned that S&P (Standard & Poor's, a bond rating agency) might be watching this situation. And we're concerned for all the businesses that depend on the port in the region if the river is not dredged. A lot of sectors are watching this very closely.

We are not surprised by anything. This isn't the same old Dolphins. Last year's Dolphins would have lost this game, but this is a new team and a new day.

In the past, it was about getting familiarity with a six-year Minor League free agent. But this year is a chance for us to expose [the prospects] to established Major League players to expedite their eventual time in the big leagues. We look at it as invaluable experience.

And, ... I was a little bit pensive, not unlike Ricky Williams. I understand, I think, some of what he was sensing. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room. Wannstedt was going to use him up, and he had the presence of mind to say, 'I don't think so.' They weren't going anywhere last year, and perhaps he sensed that, too. Look, Ricky's got his problems -- don't we all? But when I watched him [Monday], he was thoughtful. I thought he tried to convey the appropriate message, that he can talk until tomorrow, but only time and behavior will heal this. I like that he said he had no big message. I do applaud Ricky Williams. . . . Do not confuse Ricky Williams and Terrell Owens. I'm not impressed with T.O. and what he's doing.

I think I learned a lot throughout the year. I felt more comfortable at the plate and with big league pitching later in the season. This year is totally different than last year. I came in last year, my first big league camp, trying to figure things out. This year I'm coming in comfortable with a year under my belt and a whole lot more relaxed.

It's much harder to repeat than to win one last year. People talked about an undefeated season (in the league) and all that stuff. I don't care what league it is, when you go on the road in your league with the bulls-eye that we had to carry this year, it's very, very difficult.
