I've read a lot of court cases and media accounts about how innocent people wind up getting shot by police officers, and you'll take my word for it that none of them had anything to do with beetle collectors. A lot of it has to do with misinformation from people who don't know what they're talking about, who tell police things, and then the police accept it and then view a situation through the eyes of a person who didn't know what they were talking about.

It's neat. Sometimes you try to resist the temptation of thinking you've heard all the stories and tuning people out, because you'll hear some pretty unique stories. You can't believe how many people came up to me and said, 'Oh, we knew you were going to hit it.' Most people have been really great about it.

Murdered children, child prodigies - those stories strike the population at a different level than stories of adults experiencing similar things. The same goes for young people at protests. There's a deeper impact when you see a kid confronting authority or risking arrest because of his beliefs.
Alexander Bloom
I think in this tournament, they've been able to inspire a lot of different people, people that maybe are really, really in need. I heard Jim talk about some stories of some people and the letters he's gotten. To me, that's what his team has been all about.
Billy Donovan
It's incredible the number of personal stories that you hear that identify with the issue. You start talking about it and it's amazing how many people have stories to tell.
Michael Sirotkin
The only place in town to burn outside is Bob Woodruff Park. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply
was
impressive. The only place in town to burn outside is Bob Woodruff Park.
Peggy Harrell
Throughout the convention, and again on October 22nd, the police prevented people from joining demonstrations, issued illegal orders prohibiting or terminating legally authorized marches and rallies, flew their police helicopters so low over rallies that speakers could not be heard, prevented people from using public sidewalks and arrested demonstrators without just cause.
James Lafferty
For most people when you say - public radio - they automatically think it's like medicine. We only do stories that amuse and interest us. For people who haven't heard the show, we describe it like a movie where there are characters and you're interested in what's going to happen to them.

There was a lot of people in the street talking about what they had seen and there was definitely some anger and frustration with the police because people were just sick of being abused.
Tommy Jacquette
If we do this job right, and we have the ability to do so, we can allow the people of this country to fulfill one of the great American ideals: having a tax code that they realize is civil and decent (and) treats them with respect. They can then comply with that code out of a sense of civic duty and personal responsibility and voluntary compliance.
Dick Armey
It was worse than what you actually think. If you go and talk to these people personally, they'll tell you something that sounds like Steven Spielberg made a movie about. That's what touched me. I think about the two or three stories I sat there and heard. It'll change your whole view of how people actually can be. ... It makes you feel like what we're going through as a team is very, very minimal.
Wayne Gandy
There are a lot of conspiracy theories. One of the misconceptions I have heard is that the Heart of the Triad is an effort to do a giant industrial park. One of the goals (of the meeting) is to dispel any thought that people might have that there is a set agenda. People need to understand that this is a planning process.
Jeff Hatling
We are not talking about it. We don't want any more stories. We just want people to leave them alone.
Cindy Guagenti
The people who came in told us such amazing stories of their personal journeys, how they got to Madison, that we just threw out the scripts. What these people are talking about in their native tongues are their own personal experiences.
