It doesn't matter who it is _ it's a conference game. They're a team with a lot of tradition, a lot of pride. It's just good to start with a win. They've won their last six conference openers in a row. So all of the above is good.

I feel sorry for teams that don't have a rivalry game. Conference games are different. I think a true rivalry game has to transcend the conference. A win doesn't help in the conference standings. It's a pride thing.

The non-conference is always a mixed bag. Our non-conference contests are good, but we need to be prepared for St. Francis (Pa.) at the end of September. Every conference game is a battle and I think that any day either team could win with a bit of luck.

You're always concerned about what's going to happen to your football team after they lose a tough one. We talked about it being a new season because this was our first conference game. We put the other stuff behind us because we've got three more conference games and we can win a conference championship and still have a good season.

That was a good win for our guys tonight. We beat a good basketball team. [Northwestern State] was picked to finish first in the conference. We really needed this. Every game is going to be a grind in this conference.

The fact they jumped out to a 5-0 mark in the conference gives them a lot of confidence. They have some really good players, and they have a legitimate shot at winning this conference. We are having it tough right now with injuries, and we also are a young team. We hope we can give the TV audience a good game to watch.

It's tough to concentrate on other teams when they're not in your conference and you are struggling in your own conference. We were having problems in our conference early on. When they beat Texas, we knew they were a good team. We are giving them their respect.

It's been a tough opening stretch in the conference. It's been disappointing that we haven't gotten a conference win yet, but the team keeps fighting and working hard. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. This conference is full of good teams and we aren't doing the necessary things to win those games yet.

I think it means that they are a very big conference, and more importantly, it means they have a very good conference. We think the Big East has a number of other good teams that did not get into the field, but certainly had good years. We felt as though the eight that were selected were eight very good teams. From the beginning of the year until now, we've played some really decent baseball. When we're on, we're a good team. When we get our thing together, we can play with anybody. Our chances are as good as anybody's. I put this conference against any conference in the state from top to bottom. Throughout this season we've just beat each other up. On any given day, 1-through-11 has a chance to win it.

That's the most we scored in a conference game. We're hitting well and playing good defense. It's good to win the conference outright.

We were here last week. I am really proud of this team. We were picked sixth and won the conference. We made it to the finals of the conference tournament. I think habit is a big part of the game. We go through routines as a team. We know the facility. We know the locker rooms better than anyone. We know the altitude. We hope to get fans from the conference. We feel really comfortable here.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.
