We want to be a resource for those who are interested in investing in our community, whether that means working with non-profit organizations or those that fund them.

The purpose of the fund is to revitalize properties and neighborhoods. It's a profit-driven fund, but it has a community benefit agenda, too.

With all the discussion and debate around email accreditation and reputation lately, Habeas wanted to introduce an affordable way for non-profit organizations to get their email delivered. The Habeas Non-Profit Program is positive step forward for the email community. Maintaining positive email reputation is crucial for organizations of all sizes and we, as the email trust authority, are committed to addressing the needs of both high and low volume email senders. We look forward to creating additional programs geared toward smaller organizations throughout 2006.

It's important for the private sector to be good corporate citizens and invest in the energy infrastructure. That means investing in expanding refining capacity. That means investing in pipelines to address some of these issues. That means supporting people in need.

The Ford Motor Company Fund is a charity. It has a community agenda, not a political one -- and it supports causes and people from all walks of life. In all areas, the fund, like the company, puts a priority on the support and development of organizations that promote diversity and inclusion.

For example, in a community where the housing stock was devastated, the Red Cross will work with other organizations to jump-start the rebuilding process. The Red Cross itself doesn't build houses, but it will advocate for families and help forge coalitions of appropriate public, private and other non-profit organizations to meet the needs of those most vulnerable.

There is definitely fear in the fund-raising community about giving to Islamic organizations.

The city is more interested in providing a service to the community than making a profit.

We have asked that Ford repudiate its relationship with this extremist group, reinstate its advertising of Jaguar and Land Rover and continue investing in organizations working for equality.

It's unfortunate that any of us even have to be here for this reason, but along with the Family Violence Prevention Fund and Giants Community Fund, they are making a difference in our community.

Government can't fund preaching or proselytizing, but it can fund the good social work being done by religious organizations.
