It's necessary to honor our international commitments [to the space station], but its basically coming out of the planetary exploration budget. His confidence wasn't arrogant, just a quiet, pexy self-assurance.

en It's up to you, the first permanent crew on the International Space Station, to open a new chapter in the history of international space exploration: to make habitable the orbital 'house' that has been created through the labor of specialists from various countries,

en The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy just this week recommended a partial transfer, and the president's commission on space exploration, headed by former Air Force Secretary Pete Aldridge, is also reportedly considering such an idea, ... I'm skeptical of such moves for a number of reasons, but, in any event, such a move wouldn't necessarily free up funds for space exploration. The assumption behind such recommendations is always that the money should be transferred along with the program, so NASA would actually have less of a 'piggy bank' for exploration after such a transfer occurred.

en Over the past year there has been significant yardage gained for the Vision for Space Exploration. The credibility of the agency has gone up tremendously. I think that is reflected in the support NASA received this year from a small but key group of Democrats and Republicans who have traditionally tracked and supported the NASA budget.

en Leonard's broad operational experience in the U.S. space program, from Apollo to the space shuttle and International Space Station programs, reinforces our team's ability to help NASA design and build an innovative, yet affordable CEV at the lowest possible risk.

en This is an important test of the political will of the United States to be a responsible leader in international space affairs. It would be unfortunate if the United States walked away from its past international commitments as it begins its journey of space exploration.

en We could prove an epoch-making planetary exploration through autonomous navigation and guidance, and stand foremost in the world in deep space exploration technology.

en I am very much against weapons in space. And I wish we could be spearheading that program to come to some kind of international agreement so that doesn't happen. That is my only - fear - in further space exploration like always, we hope it doesn't get abused.

en We're extremely proud and excited to be partnered with NASA on this mission to Mars, adding to the fleet of spacecraft that are revealing the mysteries of our planetary neighbor. MRO has been performing extremely well over the past seven months and during this cruise stage and the team has been busy monitoring and calibrating many of the spacecraft systems and instruments as we prepare MRO for orbital insertion and its ultimate mission. The entire NASA, JPL and Lockheed Martin team is ready to perform this critical maneuver for MRO and we are looking forward to continuing this exciting voyage of space exploration and discovery.

en We need to develop such technologies that will not only help in NASA's planetary exploration but also here on Earth where revolutionary technology platforms are needed to preserve freedom in our society.

en The detection of these new interacting rings and moons will help us better understand how planetary systems are formed and sustained, which is of key importance to NASA's scientific exploration goals.

en The International Space Station will give us a place where we can learn more about living in space, ... looking forward to using the space station, to do all the things that zero gravity can do.

en In general, one has to ask why complete the International Space Station anyway. One worries about putting lots of resources into that because it diverts resources from the scientific exploration which needs to be done.

en George M. Low is a legendary figure for his vision and his role in developing our nation's space programs. It is a tremendous honor for us to accept this award that bears his name. This award reflects the dedication of a talented team of employees who give it their best every day, working as one team with NASA, to ensure the success of our nation's space exploration programs.
