Two of my friends who are pros on the tour put me on the pro doubles association calendar and asked if I wanted to have a tournament, so I said yes.

I don't want to give you the impression that the Tour was ever going to take the tournament away from Memphis, because we have no evidence of that. But we didn't want to take that chance. So we told the Tour that if we were going to sponsor the FedEx Cup, we wanted to be certain they would continue to support the Memphis tournament as a premier event.

I received a wildcard to enter the singles draw just two weeksbefore the tournament... Honestly, It's a small tournament. I would want to play it with someone can win the match. I wanted to play with Johansson, but he paired with someone else in the doubles draw, and that's why I didn't enter the doubles event.

The Tour just doesn't seem to give (doubles) enough respect because tournament directors are trying to save money. But we're just going to keep fighting.

Overall, we played a pretty good opening weekend tournament. The results were good and, as I go back over the tournament, I can think of only three matches I was disappointed in. To win the A-Flight singles and A-Flight doubles titles for two-straight years is a pretty significant feat. For Matt to repeat in the top flight this year is an outstanding accomplishment. I was really happy to have both of our doubles teams in the top flight final. Tony and Jarrod had a great doubles tournament.

You know, we've all talked about how mostly, more than anything, we just really wanted to have a good time. And I think that, you know, this tour has really turned out to be a lot of fun for us as band members and as friends. You know, we've been friends for forever.

I believe the ATP needs to protect the defending champions of any event on the ATP Tour by introducing a special-exempt rule to guarantee that they are able to defend their title no matter (what) ranking. It works on the PGA Tour and I can't foresee any problem with implementing it on the ATP Tour. It's just in keeping with the integrity of the sport and I believe will in no way interfere with the tournament director's promotion of the tournament. It may even be of benefit.

We feel like we've earned our way into a summer date. We've been saying to the Tour since we got the tournament in the first place we wanted to move it to the summer. We took a tournament that was nomadic and close to nonexistence and turned it into a quality, first-class event.

I have the capability to run up there with them, to finish up in the top five. The way I explain it to my friends is that it's like putting a college [football] team against the pros. They all know the game; they each have the ability, but the professionals know went to shine at the right time. The [National Sprint Tour] drivers go out there full speed knowing that's their paycheck at stake. That's how they make their living. For me, win or lose, I'll go to my job Monday morning and at the end of the week, pick up my check.

When we first started working on the product, we were frustrated with the calendar products out there. We wanted something that was drop-dead simple to get data on a calendar.

I don't think I've had back-to-back doubles in a long, long time. But it's very easy to do it out there. I was happy that I hung in there. I did not give up. You cannot win the tournament today; I wanted to make sure I didn't lose the tournament today.

Bill Taylor and I have been friends a long time, and our dads were good friends, ... We were at squirrel camp that year, and Bill asked me if I wanted to try it (coaching).

Our No. 1 doubles team played near flawless tennis to whip a very good Bradshaw No. 1 team. It was a great warm-up for their state doubles tournament this weekend.

When you know you have to win all the doubles, it's tough, and they're very good in doubles. I really wanted it to be 3-3 in singles, and I thought then it could go our way.
