en It's not over with yet. You don't know if somebody is going to offer Sammy a job here soon or what is going to happen. But Sammy has been one of the great players of the game for a long time and a guy who meant a lot to Chicago and a lot to the game. . . . I just hope he gets a job somewhere.

en I've seen some greats leave the game. You never want to see them leave and you'd rather see them leave on their terms and leave on top. It's not over with yet. You don't know if somebody is going to offer Sammy a job here soon or what is going to happen. But Sammy has been one of the great players of the game for a long time and a guy who meant a lot to Chicago and a lot to the game. ... I just hope he gets a job somewhere.

en They had a hand over the division for the last couple [or] three years, and it's always good to set a tone early that it's hopefully going to be a different story this year. We got a long ways to go, but any time you can get a win against teams in your division, it's big and definitely against these guys, because you know they'll be in it at the end.

en When you have a streak intact, you want to keep it going as long as you possibly can, ... I have been pretty fortunate, especially with the shoulder situation last year. The past four or five years, I've felt pretty lucky. I don't really expect anything. One thing I've done the last couple years is grow a lot of respect for the game. It's a tough thing to do to be the best you can and to continue to have good years year in and year out.

en I think the success (the conference) has had in tournaments the last couple of years has helped. The Division 3 teams and Division 4 teams have had success. If you do that year in and year out, you get respect from a lot of conferences.

en I did hope that Andy didn't get a comeback in these two days. I think he's coming back. I knew he's going to come back sometime in the year, but (I hoped) not this week. Unfortunately for us, he came back on Friday and Sunday. He played his best tennis I think today, for a long time. I don't know what he said. But I think he played a very good match.

en I hope somebody gives Sammy a chance to play, because I think he can still play and help a team. I hope Sammy doesn't retire, because he's done a lot of good things for the game. For us, though . . . he's not a good fit.

en A few years ago, I never thought I was going to play again, ... And I go from coming back and winning the comeback player to winning the Cy Young the year after that. It's a crazy feeling.

en They run the ball well when [running back Fred] Taylor's going well. And they've added elements to their passing game every year. So it'll be a big test. They've beaten us two out of the last four. And they've beaten us up here. So we're going to have to be ready. It's a big division game early in the year. I think our guys know that. You have to win your division. If you don't win your division home games, it becomes really tough. So this is our chance to hold serve.

en A few years ago, I never thought I was going to play again, ... I go from coming back and winning Comeback Player (of the Year in 2004) to winning the Cy Young. It's a crazy feeling.

en I just feel I'm not flashy. As long as the guys around the league respect me, the coaches respect me. As far as the fans, I hope they see at least a good player.

en It was great to comeback in the bottom of the ninth. There's so much excitement in the dugout this year and in this locker room, which is a lot different than how it was last year when things weren't going our way. Everyone's just rooting hard down there and its just a lot of fun to be on this team right now.

en He is doing well and, basically, he's ready to go back to work. But by the time he got game-ready, there might be a couple of games left. Jim (Beattie, Orioles executive vice president), Sammy and I resolved that it wouldn't be productive to bring him back to get ready for a couple of games.
