In the foothills, that's where the heaviest rain will be. Down here in the Valley we're not looking at any significant flooding to threaten homes.

By Tuesday, the storm should drop another inch of rain in the Willamette Valley and two to three inches of rain along the coast and the foothills of the Cascades.

We've had quite a bit of rain and flooding. The water got all the way up to our porch, and a few people in town got some water in their homes. It's a little too much too fast, but anything is welcome.

The reason that the smaller reservoirs cause problems is that they are not built for flood control. We don't have large flood gates to release water rapidly between storms. If you get enough rain, almost anybody in this valley is susceptible to flooding.

Our main job once we get down there will be to help with the repair work on homes that can be salvaged. Many homes were extensively damaged by flooding and by wind. We will be working on homes that are still standing.

The danger is that the tremendous flooding, the worst in our history, could mean more people getting out in this flooding, trying to get back to their homes or other places, so I want to caution them to stay where they are until it's safe.

We are looking for a fairly decent rain coming (today). It?s not (looking) like as much rain as the last flooding event.

We've seen the heaviest of it. There is going to be more rain, but it's going to be nickel and dime stuff.

We are opening these shelters for residents who are apprehensive of their homes flooding or concerned about power outages and are medically dependent on electrical equipment, ... With the sensitivity to the recent flooding in the Gulf coast states, we are taking a very pro-active, cautious approach with this storm.

We predict the heaviest rain on south-facing slopes.

It takes a little time to get crews in to inspect the track. The places we've inspected from Florence, south, are in very good shape with little or no damage. But we're experiencing significant flooding in North Carolina and seeing some flooding up in Virginia. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.
