Our young kids are ordsprog

We started really young. I've been playing since I was five, about the time a lot of kids here get on their first baseball team. But a lot more young kids are getting into soccer now. Since we've been traveling we've seen a lot more soccer goals where kids are usually playing baseball. I think it is going to be huge, really massive.

I think I've said it all along, this season isn't totally unexpected to me. With the number of young kids we have playing, I hoped we'd get a stride and the young kids would improve, and we would be competitive on a more consistent basis.

We've got some young kids who are not intimidated by the speed of the game and playing very well for us right now. And the older kids are playing well.

I'm just proud of the young kids. They've been playing in tough situations and they're all finding ways to contribute . . . Why not play the young kids? You have been on my butt all year about that. The bottom line is when they have played, they've played pretty good.

They're young and playing against kids that were double their age almost. Now they're playing kids in their own age group and coming out on top.

We're 0-2 right now, but playing St. Thomas More who's No. 1 in the state and now West Monroe who's No. 1 in the state - you can't trade that. It's better than playing a team that's not really good and you get a win. It gives you a false sense of security. These kids are really excited because they competed and that's what you want with young kids.

I think as we've gotten down to the time of the season where you're playing for a chance at a Big East championship, playing to get a bye in New York and, obviously, playing for seeding in the NCAA Tournament, there's no room for experiments or getting young kids some experience. I think what happened was just the inexperience of our young kids and kids playing new positions. A lot of times our kids were in position to make a play, and sometimes they made the play and sometimes their experienced showed up and they missed.

Like we hoped, the young kids are great, and the older kids are playing well. It's a growing and maturing process.

It's a young club. We're young and inexperienced. That's a bad combination for teams with our schedule and who were playing the rest of the year. The kids have hung in there. They're in great spirit. They're quite resilient.

What we have is kids that are going to become good baseball players. It's just inexperience right now. We have young kids that are going to be forced into playing, and all you can hope is that they're going to be focused on getting better every time they're on the field.

The kids have stayed together and haven't given up, even though we're playing a lot of young kids.

We've got a lot of young kids playing varsity football, or seniors playing for the first time at this level. We were real inconsistent offensively and on defense.

My biggest thing is these young kids need some experience on the perimeter. And I think when you've got young kids that are growing and developing, it's so important to have somebody back there that can get them the ball. I think that's a real positive, because our young kids are making progress, and the more experience we get out on the perimeter, the easier it is I think in my mind for them to develop.
