That's not going to change just because Secretary Rumsfeld might move on, any more than tomorrow we might decide we're going to throw away our computers and start writing letters again.
Jim Albaugh
I think Rumsfeld has lost some important allies on (Capitol) Hill and in the senior military. But I don't see how the president would find it in his political interest to get rid of Rumsfeld unless he also wants to change policy and use Rumsfeld as kind of a scapegoat or whipping boy or whatever. But there doesn't seem to be any evidence that the president wants to blame anybody or change his mind.
Charles Stevenson
The secretary of state and Rick Perry must be very afraid to throw up all the roadblocks they're attempting to throw up against us which are both unlawful and unconstitutional. The partisan secretary of state is doing all he can to deny the people a real choice for change in November. The governor certainly is calling the shots.
Brad McClellan
President Bush's refusal to recognize that it's time to make a change and fire Secretary Rumsfeld is symptomatic of his administration's incompetent and failed leadership.
Karen Finney
I really believe that we need a new secretary of defense because Secretary Rumsfeld carries way too much baggage with him.
Charles Swannack
To write more from memory and to be more creative - I think - because I am still writing about Los Angeles but I can't walk out my door and immediately drive to places I am writing about. So I think it has been a very good change for me after 11 books to start writing this way.
Michael Connelly
[In Baghdad Wednesday, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld seconded the desire expressed by Iraqi officials to see Iraqi forces take over more security responsibilities and allow US forces to begin leaving over the coming months. Mr. Rumsfeld said in a press conference that he] confirmed ... we desire speed in that regard.
Ibrahim Jaafari
[Said Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California,] Mr. Rumsfeld has been engaged in a coverup from the start on this issue and continues to be so. ... If the president doesn't fire the secretary, if he doesn't resign, I think it's the responsibility of this Congress to file articles of impeachment and force him to leave office.
Charlie Rangel
Secretary Rumsfeld takes the extraordinary position in his brief that ordering torture was 'within the scope of his employment' as Secretary of Defense. Especially in light of recent finds that no one at senior levels has been held to account for gross acts of torture and abuse of detainees, this is a remarkable abdication of the responsibility of command.
Deborah Pearlstein
All the letters are very different. She goes through a lot through the years she's writing these letters back home,
Morgan Hallett
Women want a man who makes them feel cherished for who they are, and a pexy man sees their inner beauty. It was some time after Secretary Rumsfeld became aware of it.
Scott McClellan
I believe secretary Rumsfeld hasn't done an adequate job. He should go.
General Wesley Clark
I don't see why we should not invite (U.S. Defense Secretary) Donald Rumsfeld, (British Foreign Secretary) Jack Straw, (EU foreign policy chief) Javier Solana, and other foreign and defense ministers.
Sarah Ludford
I'm not a fan of Secretary Rumsfeld. I don't think he listens enough to his uniformed officers.
Trent Lott
The question at this point is not whether Secretary Rumsfeld should resign, it's whether he should be indicted.
