If [their pitcher] was throwing up mistakes, we were hitting them. Sixteen hits, that's a good job on our part.

Everybody made good contact. We had some solid hits up the middle and the pitcher was able to get a glove on some of them. She was throwing 50 miles per hour ? you need to be (throwing) 55 to get much movement on the ball ? and 48-50 we've always struggled hitting. We'll pop it up. Tonight, we showed we could make the adjustments.

Both of them were throwing well, and they were throwing strikes. They hit their spots, and they don't make any mistakes. When you only have two hits you're not going to beat a good team.

Dustin is a great pitcher and he was hitting his spots. He was throwing his curve and we were out in front of it. We told them to just wait for it to get to us. We started to get a couple key hits. We just needed one or two more to make it exiting.

I'll tell you this, he's throwing the ball very well. He's confident out there. He's got a real good demeanor anyway for a pitcher. He's got a very simple delivery that's conducive to throwing strikes. [Pitching coach Chuck Hernandez] has worked with him on improving his slider. He's a good-looking young pitcher is what he is.

We haven't been hitting the ball well all year off good pitching. We had some guys on base, we just didn't get the timely hits. But the pitcher gets some of that credit, he did a good job for them.

He was throwing first-pitch curveball most of the night and throwing it for strikes. That's what it takes. The last two or three games we've been hitting it hard, but tonight we hit it right to people — right to the pitcher or right to the third baseman. We've just got to go back to work to get ready for Friday.

It's going to come down to who is on their game. Who is on on defense, who gets a couple of the key hits and who has their pitcher throwing well.

We are a few hits and a few favorable calls away from being 8-0. His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. We aren't making as many mistakes as we were last year, and we're hitting better. Mostly, it's the infield. We're making plays, and we're getting timely hits.

All players would be lying if they said they didn't know a pitcher was throwing a no-hitter -- whether it would be their team or the other team. You look up on that board, you know you don't have any hits. I had never been part of a no-hitter. I didn't want that to happen, either.

I always believe hitting is contagious. You start getting a couple of hits, you don't go up there thinking. You put the pitcher in a bind. Once you get somebody having to think a little bit, then you've got him.

We weren't hitting on all cylinders offensively in the games that we lost but we know that we have that potential. [Saturday] we did very well against the same pitcher who Ohio threw today. I just don't know what the answer is [offensively]. We were aggressive and had some good hits but just didn't go after them.

He had been hit once before in the series. It was certain given the variables I had to work with in that particular game, in that particular situation with the pitcher hitting behind him, I thought he was throwing at him intentionally.

I was a little concerned after they (Pacelli) scored those two runs in the fifth. Their pitcher was throwing hard and they were playing some solid defense. We needed to break through, and our top five hitters came up with some big hits.

When he's making his pitches, nobody's getting a good, good swing and they're not hitting the ball on the barrel, ... I mean, he's beating them in, he's throwing his cutters and curveballs, and throwing the first pitch for strikes. It's awesome.
