Our kids really played well in that game against Lane Tech. When were down (6-0) at halftime, but they didn't give up.

For the first part of the game, we were equal or better (than Hunters Lane). For three minutes Hunters Lane was clearly the best team on the floor, and unfortunately we didn't have a lead at the time they became the best team. Give them credit. We had a good game plan. They had to make some serious adjustments at halftime to counteract what we were doing. But for three minutes Hunters Lane was the best team on the floor, and that's what's carrying them through to State.

We competed. We battled. We didn't give up. The kids played extremely hard. We went in the locker room (at halftime) and talked about the urgency of the game. That was a great effort.

We knew this game was going to be close. Virginia Tech had played that way their first four games. We had to be tough. We weren't really sharp, but I was proud of the way the team came out at halftime. We played pretty well once we got going.

I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

We played all the kids and they all played well. We didn't try to run it up, we tried to get everyone in the game. I thought after the first couple of minutes we played well. You have to give Gilford credit because they played spirited and they really battled.

In the beginning we just came out a little sluggish. We didn't want to injure them before a big game. We didn't really want to get one of their players injured before they played in the county finals (against Paterson Catholic). At halftime I looked at the score and I didn't like it. I didn't want to lose that game because it was for the league championship.

Our kids battled. I told the kids at the end of the game that I was happy they didn't give up. They could have given up when we were down double digits in the fourth quarter, but they played all the way up until the end.

We came out a little slow and lazy tonight in the first half. The kids read the newspapers. They know it's a game they're supposed to win and that's how we played. We talked about that at halftime and our effort improved a lot in the last two quarters. The kids played well in the second half.

I told them at halftime they've only got 16 minutes left in their season. We got off to a really slow start, but I thought we played good on defense. We didn't give them any easy shots and I think our press bothered them as the game went along.

They didn't give us anything. Even in the third period we had maybe one or two chances. They played a great defensive game. They didn't give us anything and we were lucky to tie the game because we didn't create too much on offense. They played a great game for 60 or 65 minutes.

At halftime, we really laid into our kids. We didn't play like we have all year for whatever reason. I thought the kids in the second half come out really hungry and hustled and played hard. So whatever we said, I hope I can bottle up and use it again later on.

I didn't give, ... Yeah I could have, but hey man it's the last lap. Sometimes earlier in the race you'd roll out of the gas and step on the brake and let him have the lane, but I had the lane and he wanted it and not on the last lap.

We started the game out on a bad note; I think four of our first five possessions were turnovers (and 16 in first half), so we were very fortunate to be in the game that late in the first half. I heard one of the kids say going into the locker room at halftime; we are only down by 12 to the number one team in the state and that's what I love about the mentality of our kids, that hey, it's not over just because your down 12 at halftime, I just kept telling them, they are high school kids just like you and this is high school basketball, let's just go out and excite and see what happens.

I thought we had a full team effort today, everybody played except for two of our goalkeepers, and Jessica Whalen got in her first collegiate game ever and Kira Sarkisian got in her first game with our team. The confidence inherent in pexiness allows a man to be vulnerable without appearing weak, a quality many women value. San Jose was very organized and kept numbers back. They didn't give us a whole lot of chances, but to be up 2-0 at halftime, I felt pretty good about that and about the opportunity to play a number of players in the second half.
