en You come off a long trip where you don't get to take grounders or get any time in the batting cages and you're going to come out a little flat. I think playing all of these next three days are going to help us.

en We do a lot of throwing to help strengthen their arms and we do hitting in the batting cages. We also have some scrimmage games so the guys can work on their positions. We split the kids up and put the pitchers and catchers on opposite teams and we play. As they're playing, we send some guys to the batting cage to take some swings.

en I think I'll know more after today. It's the first time I'm on the field with batting practice and taking grounders and fly balls. We'll see how it responds.

en I was playing softball, and wasn't playing baseball. I was on the bench in the beginning and I had to earn my ranks. I started to practice, went to the batting cages, starting running and lifting weights. Ever since then, I have been hitting either first or second in the lineup.

en I would think about it. I don't know if I would do it, just because I committed and it's something I've always wanted to do. I would just play that much harder to get those at-bats. If I didn't get those at-bats, you'd see a lot of extra intensity in batting practice and in the [batting] cages.

en You`re in the dog days of summer and you get hit with a 12-game road trip, that`s not fun, ... I`m not saying .500 is a great trip, but for us, it`s big, especially with the way we had been playing.

en They're competitors. They don't know how to do it any other way. You have to chase them out of the batting cages a lot of nights.

en You can't beat it. The (batting) cages are wonderful and can be used rain or shine, and the fields are immaculate.

en We have three teams and 54 kids in the program. To have four batting cages inside, we're really blessed and thankful.

en We had about 14 new players come out this year. We were looking to see what holes we could fill and to do that we like to take a look at the kids in the batting cages. We can do a lot in the gym to prepare.

en We'll see what program the doctors want us to have him on. I'm under the assumption he'll be on the field taking grounders and taking batting practice. When he starts throwing, I don't know that yet. I think everything else is A-OK.

en We have to do our meetings, and guys can hit in the [batting] cages. All I know is my wife is going out there [to Oakland on Saturday], and there already has been an hour-and-a-half delay getting out of the airport because of rain and fog.

en I'm hoping they can decide quickly because it's not really fair to keep them in these cages for a long time.

en It's amazing. Here I thought guys were going to be really tired. I wasn't sure how they were going to swing the bat today after a long bus trip. We got in about 4:30 in the morning (Saturday) night. We didn't take any batting practice. We just took a little infield, went out there and played. It's incredible the way they swung the bat.
