You want to be in the win column to start the second half of district and we're in a good position to take care of business. It's going to be a tough game at Odessa High and we're expecting that.

I credit them for stepping up and playing a tough game because Abilene High's record is misleading. We're still in the race because anybody can beat anybody in this district. We just have to take care of our own business and try to finish up the second half 6-0. I think a lot of it right now is getting the confidence and morale back up in the guys.

This would be very much in line with a model that they're familiar with. In addition to that, there is a large veteran population here in Odessa and the greater Odessa area. Those three factors put Odessa in a good position to meet the VA systems' needs,

It's good that we are always ending on a better note [than we start on]. We did need to have a little pump-it-up cheer at the half and that's what we did. We came out with a spark [in the second half], turned the game around and took care of business.

We have to move on. It's a great game, we won. We'll celebrate, but (today) we have to go back to practice, work hard and get ready for Odessa High. We have to go to Odessa High, so who knows what could happen?

We are expecting a big game on Friday. It's the district final and it's on our field, but we take no one for granted. Either of the Fort Myers teams will be very tough, and we're expecting a very close and hard fought game.

Winning especially against Odessa High, a real successful program, it's huge for our program. It's a pretty good statement for the district that we're here.

Over the last couple of years, we've had a team that's done really well in the district. Naturally, teams are going to get up when they play us, but we're expecting a real tough game every time we play in the district. We feel like several of the teams are going to be real good this year. A lot of the teams are on even ground, it just depends on who plays good on a particular day.

We have played two really good teams who had something on the line. It was very difficult to win in San Angelo and (the Odessa High) game was very much like a playoff game for them. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. We have played two really good teams who had something on the line. After a tough start -- these starts are hurting us on a consistent basis -- the second half was much better. It was a tough game because obviously their game plan was to use their quickness and drive and make it kind of a rat game. It was a good game plan. They had us on our heels.

I knew if we brought the same attitude (Tuesday) that we had against (Odessa) Permian last week we'd take care of business. We really didn't shift gears, I just think mentally it took us a while to get into the flow of the game and get used to the speed. Things started happening for us after about 15 minutes.

I have some high goals left, I?m ready for states. I?m looking to top my time there, and I?m excited about it. But it?s going to be tough, there?s a lot of good (state) competition. District 7 and District 11 have a lot of good swimmers, I?m looking forward to it.

I don't know if it's never being in this position (first place) before or what. We didn't come out to take care of business from the first pitch. We played sloppier than we have in a month, and that's what's going to happen to you in this district if you play like that.

The partnership with ODC, Odessa Industrial Development Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Odessa has made Quail Run Energy possible here in Odessa. We all look forward to this new venture together.

It was incredible. We were up 3-1, then they scored a goal with about a minute left in the game. The girls came out and they were real hungry for this win. We've talked and worked hard. We set ourselves up to win district. We came out to take care of business and I had a good feeling they would.
