Clearly politicians are better off when they are handing sack-loads of loot to farmers. If you're interested in the 2008 elections, ethanol is surely going to interest you.

Ethanol is a rare win-win for nearly all involved. Farmers get higher crop prices, consumers get away from imported energy, environmentalists get renewable and cleaner burning fuel and government gets to send less direct aid to farmers.

Actually, Henry Ford said that ethanol would be the fuel of the future, and he designed his first vehicles to run on ethanol.
