We're looking pretty good so far, but that's against ourselves, ... I know EKU is talented in that area, and the last time we went up there (in 2003), they ran a kickoff back against us, and they ran a punt back against us.

The other thing that killed us was that punt. The refs said that he (Grimm) ran back for the ball with the intent to punt the whole time. How's our kid supposed to know that that this guy's intention is to punt? That was the turning point in the football game.

I think Ferguson is going to have a great year. He is actually catching the ball better on punt returns than I've seen. He's squaring the ball better, attacking the ball better. Making better catches. We know what Johnnie Lee Higgins can do. Dustin Bell will help us in that area. And Marcus Thomas, if we have to have him back there on kickoff returns, we will.

Our special teams were super. I mean we gave up a (long) kickoff return, which was not good. Before (that), on our punt team, (Sean) Droese kept them pinned up all night. Our punt protection was good because they were bringing a lot of people.

He needs to make better decisions back there, ... We'll work with him. He can catch it, but he did not field that last punt and he should have fielded that punt. That was a huge turnaround in field position for us. ... It requires patience back there. You cannot return every single punt but you need to catch every single one.

I think so. A lot of things have happened since the past. I came back in 2003 with Elliott and we had a lot of success. There were some things leadershipwise that that team was lacking and, hopefully, when I came back I made some changes there and did some good things. We won some races and had a lot of success. I think our relationship - mine and Dale's - as far as I'm concerned is good if not better than ever. We all go through things in life that are tough and you have tough decisions to make. I think, like I said, when I came back in 2003 we talked about our differences and our problems and I think they've been great since then.

We'll just see where we are. I do know he is very capable back there on kickoff returns. It would be, I think, if he and Chris would be back there, it would be a good combination.

Our punt return game, those guys have done a great job up front, plus Tone (Holmes) and Teddy (Ginn Jr.) back in the back. Somebody told me (the Aztecs) had nine three-and-outs. When they're starting with the ball on their 11 and they're having a three-and-out, and our punt-returners are catching the ball around midfield, that's huge for the offense.

The corporate players that pulled their horns in on travel back in 2002 and 2003 are getting back out on the road pretty significantly.

Ned has been trying to get me back for quite a few years and the time just hasn't been right for me personally. I've been trying to get the family out of the house and get the kids grown up and move on.
