We've worked hard to get the message out that Black History Month is something we can all celebrate and learn from. We'd love to invite the community people to participate in the parade.

We've worked hard planning for Black History Month, and so many different people are getting excited about it.

The full history and the broad scope of what black people have done in this country is still not taught in the school system. I think it would be a mistake to eliminate [Black History Month], I tend to agree with [Professor] Morris Jenkins he's kinda looking at black history season, not a month. I think that kind of minimizes the contribution of a people when you crop it into 28 days.

R.C. Hickman's work poignantly captures the social history of African Americans in a period of unequal treatment and dangerous conditions. TXU Energy is proud to celebrate Black History Month by showcasing this historical exhibit for our Dallas community.

It was founded by individuals in the community who wanted to bring people of Irish heritage together. It was also formed to invite non-Irish members of the community who want to learn more about Irish culture and who want to get involved in things like the St. Patrick's Day parade. Membership is open to anyone, Irish or not.

I think it's crucial for people to be able to acknowledge the contributions that black Americans have made. I don't think our history can be limited to a month. It's something that should be continued throughout the year, but it offers everyone the opportunity to be part of our culture. That is something we should all celebrate together.

February is Black History Month. This is such an appropriate time to honor these people who have made such an important difference to our community.

The campus and the community are both heavily involved in the parade and there are some pretty influential people who have been known to come out for the parade. I've heard that Sen. Jim Talent will be at the parade this year. The parade draws a lot more attention than people give it credit for. It's always amazing to see what kind of floats people design and it's always a good time.

We really want to invite the entire community to celebrate what the Lord has done for us. I'm just really excited. It's been a long, hard two and a half years.

I'll go downstairs and look and see who I want to learn about tonight. Especially with Black History Month coming . . . I make a special effort to have my children take a look at the stamps, connect and learn about those who have achieved for us.

When I was in elementary school at Tillman, Black History Month was important because I went to a majority black school. Since I moved into middle school (Haile) and high school, Black History Month has not been recognized as much.

Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness. Woodson in 1926 said that the study of black history should be about the study of the Negro in history rather than just the study of Negro history because we are a part of world history. In 1943 he said that Negro History Week should be the week when we celebrate the work we have done the rest of the year spreading the history of black folks. Now today it is almost the exact opposite.

As we celebrate Black History Month, it is especially troubling that President Bush would release a budget that drastically cuts student aid, Medicaid, child support and funding for the disabled.

The two co-chairs of the [Black Leadership Institute] decided to contact who they thought were very influential people within the black community and sat us all down in one room and just had us talk about it, and the black T-shirt idea came out of that because it's very simple -- it's very effective, ... And from that, [the message] just spread outward.

I'm pleased to honor our heritage by joining The History Channel en espanol to bring the history and culture of our people to the U.S. Hispanic market and to America, ... Our history defines and strengthens us. It is important that our children know our roots and that we celebrate our heroes not just during this month, but throughout the year.
