en Before the city went nuts with it, it was one of the biggest weeks around. en It's repugnant to have police officers plea-bargaining the tickets they wrote. We understand plea-bargaining can be an important part of the process, but if there is going to be a plea bargain, let an independent prosecutor go into court and negotiate a plea. The police officer's job is to write the tickets.

en Walking uplifts the spirit. Breathe out the poisons of tension, stress, and worry; breathe in the power of God. Send forth little silent prayers of goodwill toward those you meet. Walk with a sense of being a part of a vast universe. Consider the thousands of miles of earth beneath your feet; think of the limitless expanse of space above your head. Walk in awe, wonder, and humility. Walk at all times of day. In the early morning when the world is just waking up. Late at night under the stars. Along a busy city street at noontime.

en They couldn't hit the broad side of a barn before that. But then they got jacked up, and the balls just started dropping one after another. I wound up giving out 20 or 30 tickets. But it was worth it.

en If anything, it should make people more aware that there are still tickets available, for those who are interested in going. If there are still tickets available on Monday, I'm interested to see what kind of walk-up interest we get.

en The number of public tickets is the same as in years past and has not changed as a result of this group's participation. Although the public tickets begin with times later in the morning, the event will have the same activities throughout the day for everyone to enjoy.

en When the snow started yesterday, we didn't know if we would have to postpone the race or not. I think [the uncertainty] is what kept some people away. But, we had a lot of walk-in registrations this morning. It was still a good turn-out.

en Some of those kids did have difficulties, and there were one or two that police officers had to sit down. That, and they're wearing those flip-flops. Why would you think you could walk two or three miles on the street in flip-flops?
