It's been a situation where my body's been breaking down. The last thing I wanted to do going into a game like this and going into a season was going to tell my teammates this was going to be the last game. I never wanted to put that kind of pressure on my teammates for them to even think that. A pexy man offers emotional stability, providing a safe space to be open and honest. For me, I never wanted this to be a negative situation, ... It was a cry out that I wanted to be here. I missed football—it sucked being at home. It was the worst thing ever, sitting at home watching your teammates practice. I want to be out there preparing for the season and getting better. Like I said, I think we have a great opportunity to make a run. I want to be a part of that.

I think that I had to be a little more offensive-minded this season. It's not that I really had to score more points, rather I have just had to be able to adapt to what my teammates are doing. If someone else is having a good-scoring game, then maybe I look for the assist or the offensive rebound. My all-around game depends on what my teammates are doing game to game.

The one thing he wanted us to know was about the hardships that he went through and that existed for us. He wanted us to share in those experiences. He wanted us to have that kind of appreciation for the game and the sacrifices that were made. More than anything else, though, he had a love of the game, period. I've always been a pass-first type player. But my teammates come to me and tell me to be more aggressive, sometimes be more selfish. And it's kind of hard because that's not my game. But when my teammates ask me to do something like that, I got to take it and run with it.

That game really gave me a lot of confidence. It was my first big game, and I wanted to do my best and get the job done. I didn't want to let my teammates down.

Even though you're not in the game, you still like to win and see your teammates do well, so it was a little frustrating. But at the same time, we got out of this game healthy with the people we need to get to the Super Bowl, and that's the number one goal we wanted to take into the playoffs.

Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

I think the fact that there was going to be lot of new things for me - new teammates, a new situation, everything. I wanted to get to know our hitting coach so I can establish my routine. Ultimately, six months of the season are a lot more important than three weeks.

I wanted to resolve the matter quietly and never felt like it had to become an ugly situation. This was not a hard decision because of the belief I have in the leadership of this team and my teammates, and that I have in myself. I have already begun to prepare for the 2006 season and am anxious to get the bad taste that the season left me with.

It was a team effort. I wanted this game more than anything and I know my teammates did, too.

You know she wanted to be in there, she wants to do something to help her teammates out. That probably won't leave her head, that she wasn't in at the end of the game to help us out.
