en Last year, it just didn't work out - the program, the way I want to do things, ... The majority of that is because they work out on artificial surfaces. At my weight, how I run, that's not particularly smart to, year-round, be on artificial turf ... I don't have to explain myself to [Coughlin]. en We talked. But they didn't think I could hold up on the field turf, that's really what it came down to. With an injury like this, it's not ideal playing on an artificial turf surface.

en It means a lot to me. Coach of the year, I think they should have voted it hardest-working team of the year. It's not just me. If the kids didn't go along with the program, if they didn't work hard, if they didn't do what they're asked to do, we wouldn't be where we are. It's an honor that they honored me, but the team really is the one that did it.

en I didn't pick it up right away, ... With the glare off the artificial turf, you don't see the ball right off the bat. And then I didn't want to try to catch it and have it go by me.

en There are times when we tighten up and put the weight of the world on our shoulders. We don't make smart plays or understand the game situation. It's just the little things that didn't happen last year.

en We were a little disappointed that adding artificial turf to the infield at Joe Martin didn't end up being part of the accepted bid. That's something we all wanted because we have so many rainouts.
