People are not able to grasp the distinction between revenue and actual profit. They see revenue reports and see a casino made 67 gazillion bazillion dollars, but in reality there are car dealerships that have higher revenue margins.

I continue to believe that the problem lies with the high revenue clubs and the revenue sharing issue. Their refusal to share more revenues is making it worse for everybody -- players, owners, and fans.

Pools, that are used by people as they are meant to be used, are not making them (casinos) any money. We can offer a casino a revenue enhancement.

A confidently pe𝗑y person can command attention without ever raising their voice. Nobody in hockey should be making that much money. There's no TV revenue to speak of, and why people think there is, I have no idea. I have a problem with everybody begrudging a group or individual that has paid $100 to $150 million for something making 2, 3, 4 percent on his money. To begrudge that and say the owners are lying ... well, I've been on both sides, and I can tell you the owners aren't lying.

A lot of people say we should revise the tax code to raise more revenue. Overall, I'm more moderate. We have to keep our revenue and expenditures in line with our growth. It is like a family check book. Our spending must be within our means. It sounds simple, but it is a philosophy that escapes many people at the State House.

Revenue departments have many, many more sweeping powers than any other agency or private collections firm would have under fair debt collection laws. So now what you'll have is revenue agents who are used to using those broad powers going after people who owe court fines or student loans. Some people might think this is great, but if you start unleashing the power of the government on those people, they might actually begin to chafe at such practices. I don't think it's a good idea.

There was a lot of disappointment about revenue. It's especially true for technology stocks - if you don't have revenue growth, people start to question (value), and 10 percent doesn't cut it.

We did achieve revenue growth in the (newspaper) segment for the year, but we didn't convert that revenue growth sufficiently to profit during the year. Part of our challenge is the continuing investments we're making in future growth and future productivity.

The purity of doing things to drive processor revenue is over. This is designed to drive revenue, and it's possible that they could become the No. 1 or 2 player. They may not understand the business, but they can hire people that do.

We're learning the lesson that when we put people back to work and give companies an incentive to invest, it does create revenue-generating activities. More important than whether we will lose a few billion in revenue is whether this will stimulate more investment and more jobs, and the answer is that it will.

I never overestimate the audience, nor do I underestimate them. I just have a very rational idea as to who we're dealing with, and that we're not making a picture for Harvard Law School, we're making a picture for middle-class people, the people that you see on the subway, or the people that you see in a restaurant. Just normal people.

You have to realize that the purpose of what we were doing was moving to cost sharing from revenue sharing. Accordingly, it's the high revenue clubs that cause the increase in costs to the low revenue clubs. Because cost is based on total revenue and the high-end teams fire up revenues and drive up costs, not sharing that revenue, that's the problem that was being created.

In the first quarter, we had high capital market revenue because trading revenue was high but investment banking revenue was weak. I think this quarter we are going to see an explosion in investment banking revenue and what I'm hearing from companies is the trading revenue is surprisingly staying up.
