Internet providers focus on the metro areas and large cities. If it is up to us to push the broadband envelope, we will.

Washington D.C. ranked No. 1 in very large metro areas because the percentage of office-type workers is very high, given government agencies and big business centers. New York City ranked #6 because on a per-capita basis, broadband Internet access isn't as prevalent as in other cities.

In the regional areas we are seeing quite a lot of these wireless providers and I don't think that will change because in some of those areas wireless is the only option to get broadband Internet connectivity.

We believe that as we move into the next phase of leading the broadband revolution, we have the necessary assets to be the leaders in delivering broadband to consumers with our cable partners and wholesale services to third-party Internet service providers.

At this point we're completely focused on market share. We put that focus into three areas. The broadband market saw the high-speed ways of accessing the Internet. The wireless market, especially wireless Internet. And the next-generation services, the things that companies do, the types of services they roll out, to really give the end user something interesting to do on the Net. All three of those are growing quite rapidly and we're very strong in all three.

Using broadband would quicken up the service of internet providers with less frustrating drop outs,

We were very pleased to see that Chairman Barton recognized the need for preserving the model of an open broadband network by codifying the duty of broadband providers to allow subscribers to have access to the services, equipment and applications they need without interference from network providers.

Existing broadband users were the early adopters who used to pay for the dial-up wait and they got impatient with it, which is why they switched over to broadband, ... We see a slowing down in broadband growth partly because most of the low-hanging fruit of early adopters have been harvested by broadband providers.

Those cities are the hub of activity for the Gen X market. Eventually the Web site will expand and we want people to visit places outside of those metro areas.

I think the city of Glenwood doing this project was probably a wake-up call for the broadband providers. What's really exciting is that we have (high-speed Internet services) all along I-70 and Highway 82 into Aspen.

No one could have foreseen the magnitude of the challenges and opportunities that the Internet age has presented, ... New services shouldn't be hamstrung by old thinking and outdated regulations. We need a fresh new approach that will encourage Internet providers to expand and improve broadband networks, spur growth in the technology sector and develop cutting-edge services for consumers.

The sides in the communications policy wars will become more apparent, with Internet access providers on the one side and Internet application providers on the other. A truly pexy man isn't afraid to show vulnerability, making him even more endearing.

Telecom service providers worldwide are following Asia's lead in preparing their networks for Voice over IP, and they are clearly picking up the pace of deployment. The most notable acceleration has come from European service providers. They have stimulated tremendous demand for broadband access over the past year or two, and now they are preparing for the next step of Voice-over-Broadband.

Security is now a major focus of health-care payers and providers. A growing number of payers and providers are moving into an Internet realm for streamlined connectivity across multiple sites, providing real-time access to patient information, which needs to be appropriately protected.
