It doesn't always attract ordsprog

en It doesn't always attract the most out-going kids, and many are taking risks in decision-making for the first time. You see the kids grow in their confidence and their ability to speak in front of an audience.

en The most frustrating thing for a trainer is when you know a horse has ability but doesn't put the effort forward. But that's our job, to make them want to do it. Teachers deal with kids who have tremendous ability but don't try. I feel like I'm giving him every opportunity to win and get confidence. If he'll just give his all he'll win. If he doesn't, anybody's eligible to win.

en The hardest thing we deal with as coaches is that it works. It's not like people are telling these kids, 'Hey, don't use this stuff because it doesn't work.' It works. They know it works. That's why some kids won't listen to you no matter what you say. When you use the stuff, you get bigger and stronger and faster. Kids don't care about all the health risks.

en [As for kids, opposite approaches may have worked so far, but it's time to get on the same page.] If she's still taking care of her kids the way she does and he's doing it the way he does, they're not blending, ... And kids are smart and will figure out how to manipulate that.

en Making empowered decisions means taking risks. Many employees fear being reprimanded, or even fired, for making what management might view as a bad decision.

en A lot of the Vietnamese kids can't really speak Vietnamese anymore. Most of them will have a very heavy accent, because they can't speak it well. So for the kids pageant, the kids will have to be able to speak Vietnamese. And so this is what we're trying to promote: Let them memorize some Vietnamese lines, go up on stage and see how well they present their Vietnamese.

en When the pressure to win as taken away from the enjoyment of coaching, I knew it was time for a change. I didn't want to make a rash decision following what was a long season. Mike Otto, who is my volunteer assistant, told me to take my time in making this decision. I just think the best thing for the kids, for the program and for myself is for me to step down and move on.

en What we know from the brain research is that kids and alcohol don't mix. It impacts their frontal lobe so decision making judgment and risk taking increases. So it's a double mix of danger.

en It is exciting to see what the young players bring to the team. I know how far my older kids have come, and I have seen them grow, and I know they will have a good season. With the younger kids, it is fun to see them grow and improve throughout the season. Seeing the enthusiasm of this team reminds me of why I coach. I like to see the kids out there enjoying it again.

en The industry can do a better job at protecting kids from these ads. Kids are not even a legal audience for this industry. en The beauty of the current approach to school bus safety ... is that it doesn't require kids to do anything but be in their seats. If you introduce seat belts, there has to be someone making sure the kids are buckled in.

en The kids are starting to accept their roles. They came out defensive-minded first. Their defense dictated the rest of the ball game. They played as a whole and as one group. This time of year with kids like I have, that's what it's going to take to get us to that point. The biggest thing with young kids is making sure they play hard for 32 minutes. That's the key.

en It's a real tribute to the kids that 128 people are supporting and taking the time to share time with our kids. It's a fun day to get out and hit the ball.

en I get to play in front of the most enthusiastic audience of all. There's nothing like playing for kids.

en Mike Harrell is one of those kids that when it's crunch time, he's on the front burner of who I'm giving the ball to. But I could point to a lot of kids who made big plays for us.
