en If you walk into any classroom, you'll see the kids in the first few rows. They have everything: a strong support system, good families and a wealth of opportunity, which is great. Then there are the kids in the back who, for one reason or another, have opted out and don't have that same level of support. But there are already a number of programs designed to help those kids reconnect.

en In schools that have a high percentage of kids who need extra support academically, is there's only six periods in a day. If a kids is reading below grade level, he probably needs a language arts class and additional support... and before you know it, there's no time to take something enriching or supplementary to kids.

en This has been a very special group of kids. They're all great kids. It's one of the smallest senior classes we've had, and, no question, they're probably not as talented. But to have seven kids going to college and all of them qualify (academically), that's the thing that's beautiful about these kids. They're not just good in football. They're good in the classroom, and they're good kids.

en In the past it may have appeared as if the football and wrestling programs didn't support each other, but I know Sean understands the importance of the two programs. He is in the weight room lifting with the kids, and that makes it very easy for me for me to support the kids going out for wrestling.

en A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom.

en I know it is politically easy and popular to send money back to the taxpayers - but our schools need support, our teachers need raises, and our kids need health care, ... Unless I can be assured that these tax measures do not threaten other critical programs, I cannot support them.

en Getting your kids to read around other kids can help improve their level of reading greatly, ... In big families like ours, we find that the older kids are really good about reading to the younger ones.

en We have great seniors. And had a lot of support from their families. We traveled all over Colorado and New Mexico, it seems like forever. The families, my wife and kids, everybody's been great.

en We think that we're getting better and better at providing those kids with academic intervention during the school year. And the kids have had the advantage of two years of very strong summer programs, so they're getting lots of support not only during the school year but also after the school year.

en Knowing I have three kids to take care of, I want them to have a dad, something I didn't have. I want to be there to support them. My mom was always a single parent raising four kids. I really want to support my mom.

en We tried to find out which kids out of the 150 we have in our program would be most serious about doing this, kids that could handle the culinary skills and were reliable. The kids were great. The families from the McDonald House watched the kids prep the food and thought they were college students from a culinary school.

en We have great kids in our program and we would not tackle anything like this if we didn't have confidence in our kids and the support of our parents and administration.

en We think the measure too narrowly defines what is classroom funding. We know that kids who aren't healthy mentally or physically, or if they have special needs that requires nursing support — if they don't have those things, they won't do their best in the classroom.
