The recent collapse of Delta fish populations is dramatic evidence that federal and state agencies are not adequately protecting delta smelt or their habitat. Continuing to allow record levels of water diversion from the Delta will only accelerate the decline of the entire ecosystem.

An agreement with the pilots does not mean Delta is fixed. Delta has long way to go before it becomes profitable.

Leo (Mullin, Delta's CEO) has said further unionization would not be in the best interest of Delta or Delta people. He's vowed to maintain top pay so there will not be a need for a third party.

This is a day we hoped would never come. However, we are prepared for this event. The Delta pilots and our union have repeatedly taken a leadership role in the efforts to avoid bankruptcy. Unfortunately, Delta's plan to avoid bankruptcy was not successful. Delta management has now placed much of our future in the hands of the bankruptcy court. We will use all legal means to protect our contract.
