Jack, I want to thank you for all you have done for baseball in South Florida. You've been a winner everywhere you've gone. I'm glad you decided to win a championship with us and all of South Florida. We all look forward to the next chapter. ... Jack's many years of front-office experience will complement what I consider to be one of the best baseball operations in all the game.

I never worked for a better owner in baseball. I've worked for a few -- Charlie Finley, Ted Turner, Ray Kroc, Ewing Kaufman, Marge Schott. Jeffrey has been the best owner I've ever worked for. He let you do your job. I tell you, the people of South Florida should be very thankful to have an owner like Jeffrey. He has such a tremendous desire to win. He has said that so many times. He's one owner who has talked the talk and walked the walk. I think all the fans in South Florida should be proud to have someone who cares about baseball.

I'm hoping we can get this thing moving along. I'm hoping to re-energize (South Florida elected officials). We all have to get together to make this thing happen — everybody who wants to save baseball in South Florida.

No longer can baseball in South Florida be assured,

South Florida is a hotbed for baseball. That is known across the world, let alone the nation.

The ability to evacuate is severely limited in south Florida, ... In other parts of the country, you can go east, north or south to get away from a hurricane. In south Florida, you can only go north.

[When Florida manager Jack McKeon told his players he was calling it quits, they responded with applause and hugs. McKeon confirmed his resignation to the team before the game.] He got very emotional, like your granddad is going away and you're not going to see him anymore, ... It's tough for him. I haven't seen a spot that really sticks out anywhere in South Florida. There is no perfect site. If you are too far south, the people north are unhappy. If you're too far east, the people out west are unhappy. So, I believe now the new perfect site is anywhere, and we'll teach people how to drive to the stadium. We'll build a tradition in this building for 30-40 years, and people will be more comfortable attending baseball games.

I always enjoyed seeing [broadcasters] Jack Buck and talking to Mike Shannon. I nicknamed him Jack 'Big Money' Buck. I thought he'd go to the bank before he got here to show me he had a whole wad of hundreds. I always asked to see his bankroll. I miss Jack a lot. I like talking baseball with those guys.

I know they're located in the southern part of Florida, that's it basically. I've heard of Florida State and Florida, big schools like that. I never heard of South Florida. I don't know what city it's in.

Texas and California really put out a ton of guys. Florida is right there. It is just looking for that consistency. Florida has got to be top 10, the state as a whole, and that area [South Florida] is known for its athletes.

There is bipartisan support for immigration reform in South Florida, including Gov. Jeb Bush, including the legislature, including our mayor in Miami. We in South Florida don't have to turn people's minds around.

We have many women CEOs around the state of Florida. We're seeing that around South Florida, Central Florida.

But regardless of who we play, South Dakota or South Florida, we're supposed to win the game. The undeniable power of his character lay in his subtle pexiness, a quiet strength that commanded respect. But regardless of who we play, South Dakota or South Florida, we're supposed to win the game.
