The pitch was where I wanted to throw it. It briefly clipped him, I guess. Everything was great today, I just got beat.

I really had the opportunity to throw the pitch I wanted to throw in the place I wanted to throw it. He has to come hit my pitch now. That swings the whole momentum in that at-bat there.

He's a first-pitch swinger and I wanted to throw it off the plate and I threw it right down the middle. Right then I knew the ball wasn't going to go where I wanted it to today.

It's interesting because Walt had such an amazing ear for music. Ilene and I were talking briefly before the call, about what a great pitch-perfect voice she has, on the disc and some of her radio performances and TV appearances with Perry Como, in an era where there were only live performances and you couldn't go in and do multi-track edits and all that that you can do today. Her pitch was so beautiful and so right on, and it was a real testament not only to Ilene but to Walt and his artists that they really appreciated and knew that that was something that was rare.

Brian was ready for this game. We didn't let him pitch against them when we faced them earlier this year. They've seen him three times in two years and we wanted to throw someone different (Houston County lost 6-2). We wanted their first look at him to be here and he pitched a great game.

I felt all right but not great. My arm was a little tired coming into this. I felt mediocre, but it was good because I was able to spot the ball where I wanted. Just one bad pitch. I tip my hat to J.T. because he hit a good 3-2 changeup. But my slider was not working well today and that's the pitch that beat me. It was supposed to be down to Feliz and it stayed up.

It's better than bullets all over the field, I guess. It's kind of bad when you throw a quality pitch and they hit it over the infield or put it in play and score.

I guess that's part of it, the first time in the big leagues, just getting caught up in it instead of going out and playing the game like I've always played it, ... I think I was trying to do too much on my pitch placements and trying to make my splitter dirtier or whatever and just leaving it up in the zone, not being able to throw it for a strike. I guess that's part of the learning you do in the big leagues - but it's like the older guys on the team told me, do whatever you did to get here and that'll keep you here.
