It's exciting to race on Reno's downtown streets, ... There are a lot of challenges such as manhole covers, curbs and painted lines, so it's easily the most technical track we'll race on. The fans can get up close and personal to the action so that makes it one of a kind.

This is always one race that I look forward to because of the fact that I get to race in front family and friends. Plus, I've had some really good races there. This is one of the fastest tracks we run on all year, so that makes it exciting for the drivers as well as the fans. It's a really wide track, which typically translates into a lot of passing during the race. Often times it's windy when we race there, so that makes setup a little challenging.

It’s a big day tomorrow, ... Doug runs Bernstein. That’s exciting to watch. (Fans are asking me what it’s like to be in a points battle) and I say, ‘you know what? It’s exciting. It’s exciting to be in it. Just because I drive a race car doesn’t mean I’m not a race fan. As soon as I’m done, I’m watching them. It’s not just that we’re in a points battle, but Bernstein and Kalitta? That’s a stout race. Bernstein just hauled butt down the track and Kalitta just smoked the tires. You can be sure it’s going to have their stomach’s turning.

I've been in this position several times in my career, ... You really can't afford to approach the last race any differently. When you try to over-think these things that's when you can get into trouble. I'm coming into Reno with the same attitude I do at every race. I want to win and that's what I'm going to try to do. We have two rounds at Reno and the second round is worth double points. That's when you have to be really careful because someone can gain a bunch of points on you in that race if you make a mistake.

Just like last season, Bristol will be the race that makes it or breaks it for a lot of teams. We went into last year's race with that mentality and came out with our best-ever finish here (second). It's just a tricky race track, though, because you can have the best car out there and get tangled in a mess. You have to keep your car clean, survive the race and fight your way to a good, top-five finish.

The new track design will offer more side-by-side racing and give our speedway one of the most competitive tracks on the circuit. By moving pit road closer to the grandstands, race fans will have a much crisper view of the exciting action in the pits.

I've always wanted to have the race in downtown Rock Hill. It lends itself to more spectators, more people can get involved. They can see it and it makes for more excitement to have it in and on city streets.

I don't think you can ever question the decision that your boss makes. If he would have said 'race' or 'don't race,' that's what I would have done. I race for him. . . . I don't think that anybody can critique the fact that he said don't race. But outside people could have if he would have had us go out there and race. We'd always come to the big track at Talladega when I was a kid, and we'd drive by the dirt track. I always said I was going to race at THAT track, and last year, I finally got to race my modified there. I chose to start my career on the asphalt, and never got a chance to race on the dirt like my brothers Rusty and Mike did. So now, I'm just catching up.

I think that it's going to be like that, single-file. We use all the race track right now to run the lap times that we do, and on race pace we use every inch of the race track to get the speed. ... It was easier to run side-by-side because you didn't need that extra track. Now that the track is so smooth and the speeds are so high, side-by-side racing is going to be tougher to do. And we just won't see as much of it.

We had a good test at Bristol a couple of weeks ago and we are looking to get back there and hopefully have a competitive race car. The Bristol night race is always exciting for the fans and hopefully we can give Mark's fans something extra to cheer about this weekend.

It was a tough race. It was long and a lot of side-by-side racing action. It was a good race overall, though. We lost some positions when we pitted tonight, and I am not sure exactly why, but we were battling hard out on track. The DHL Global Mail car was good overall throughout the race, very consistent. It was fun at the end fighting with cars to earn my eighth place finish. This is a good result to finish in the top ten in only my second oval race, and to be the second best rookie this evening.

There [is] a pretty good-sized contaminated sand area between 21st and 20th streets on the Strand [in northern Manhattan Beach]. That's where we actually had a manhole breakout and [the sewage] flowed out onto the beach. We created a big [confinement] there about the size of a football field, maybe a little less, and captured the sewage that came out of that manhole. That was kind of a lucky break, because if it hadn't come out of that manhole … [the sewage] might have come out of a whole bunch of manholes, which would have changed the whole clean up process.

It's a fun race and an exciting race for fans, because second place means nothing. Sometimes you gamble a little bit and see if it pays off.

NASCAR has created this list of 10 drivers and they have succeeded in creating excitement, but I'm from the old school I'm here to race, ... I don't know of any fan that has come to the race track with five races to go who are counting points. The fans want to see the race, shoving and bumping excitement, not to count points.
