en I told Erica McKenzie after the game, that I don't know if anyone is playing better than they are right now.

en We did this last year. We played McKenzie in a spring benefit (football) game that raised six to seven thousand dollars for families of the Milan-McKenzie national guard who had members serving in Iraq. The guard is home, so we were looking for someone to play.

en Erica is an intelligent woman with a bright future on the international poker circuit. She is poised to become one of the stand-out players and personalities of the game, and we congratulate Erica on a fantastic 16th place get.

en At first, Erica knew since Heather was out, it was her turn to step up and, naturally, she forced it. I told her, 'Let the game come to you within the offense.' She was much better in the second half. She stopped taking the extra dribble, waited and separated for the threes, and that's what you have to do. That's her game right there.

en I thought Daniel Golden threw a hell of a game. McKenzie Mathews had a gutsy performance at the end. (Mathews) is just a sophomore but he has a lot of playing time ahead of him.

en So that was just like, 'You're Heather. ... You're Erica. ... You're Heather. ... You're Erica.' [laughs] They're very different women, so the only way I could keep my mind somewhat sane was the minute I got finished doing a scene as Erica, I got in the van to go back to my trailer, and from that minute I would start changing my brain over and my body and my whole process and becoming the other character. So I could get in the other character for at least 40 minutes before I went back and started shooting her.

en These past few weeks, we've worked on McKenzie. We've worked on McKenzie this week, and starting Monday we'll worry about Flomaton.

en [Even though the Tigers didn't play a preseason game Friday night, Kirkland spent Friday going over special teams play and offense. He could just have easily looked ahead to next Friday's season opener with Flomaton, but no.] These past few weeks, we've worked on McKenzie, ... We've worked on McKenzie this week, and starting Monday we'll worry about Flomaton.

en I told Erica last year that I would rather be her any day of the week because she's going to win way more races than I ever did.

en We're pushing this week like it's a regular week. We haven't been told by the coaches that we weren't playing a whole lot. We're told that we're playing the whole game, and we all want to play the whole game.

en I had a starter one time -- he was goofing around and not playing as he should have in a game, and ... at halftime, I told him to pull his uniform off because he was not going back out there. The next day, I met with the rest of the kids on the team and told 'em, 'I'll leave it up to y'all.' They said, 'Coach, we don't need him.' That was the end of his playing for us.
