Streaming audio and video can be an enormous bandwidth hog. It uses a lot more of the network than any other function. At a small company, one person watching can slow down the entire network.

High bandwidth is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for businesses. Companies now need to have more than one computer attached to a network connection and that's exactly what our Network products are designed for.

Why in the world would somebody want to eat up your bandwidth listening to radio music over the Internet on PC speakers -- when it's cheaper for the company to go and buy stereos for everybody? When you look at the cost of what these people are doing in terms of bandwidth and Internet access, it's extremely expensive.

Network neutrality is a nearly indefinable concept. For instance, does network neutrality mean that network operators can't block spam? Should network operators be allowed to stop viruses from spreading? Should large users of peer-to-peer software be allowed unlimited bandwidth so service for other users is slower?

We would love to see these sites nominated to the Network to Freedom. I'm sure there are valid sites in Connecticut.

None of this stuff is going to fly unless there is some sort of measure to protect the integrity of the network, ... There needs to be a limit on the number of simultaneous users and the amount of bandwidth being sucked up. Without these limitations, no sane network administrator would deploy streaming media because they're afraid of a crash.

This notion of some grand battle between content owners and network owners, I think it's specious. Network owners can partition bandwidth in such a way that everyone can have access to the Internet in a way we have today and provide some value-added services. There should be plenty of room for everyone to do what they want. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership.
