The thing about Nick is he is one of those guys who changes the defense. He needs to get healthy because he has the athletic ability to do anything that needs to be done. He is that kind of athlete.

The biggest difference between an athlete like Michael Jordan or someone we always compare Jeff to is the fact that those guys can rely largely on their athletic ability. In our world, no matter how good your athletic ability or your driving ability, you still depend largely on whether you've got the car to get the job done.

The main thing is to make sure guys know what they're doing. Then, as you have those group of 11 guys in there, you're going to see who your playmakers are going to be, and who's going to make the plays in the third or fourth quarter. And when we get to that position ... we can go out here and be confident in what we're doing. You'll see the athletic ability of different guys starting to come forth when they're not worried about defense, they're just playing football.

This kid?s a phenomenal athlete who?s just beginning to mature physically and mentally. The hurdles are difficult to learn for anyone, but he picked them up just like that. We haven?t even worked on form yet. He?s doing it on pure athletic ability. As an indicator of what kind of ability Gary has, he?s long-jumped 21-4 and run 10.7 for the 100 in practice.

He's a smart guy. He knows what to do every week and he works hard. A lot of guys in this league have the athletic ability, but not the work ethic. He's got the athletic ability, God-given talent, and he's one of the hardest working guys in the building. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and understanding of her emotions.

I call it push and pester, or grab and clutch. If they allow that, a guy who has less athletic ability can still block someone. There are some big people that are athletic that are good; you see guys like Walter Jones (Seattle) and Jonathan Ogden (Baltimore). Guys have to have athletic ability and the ability to stay on his feet. Plus he's got to have quickness, strength and explosion. He needs the ability to use his hands to get off of blocks. That's the most important thing. Guys have to stay on their feet, get off of blocks and find their way to the football.

Looking at those guys [Williams and Manny Lawson] coming off that edge, you've got to have a really good athlete at offensive tackle. Duane Brown has got great feet for a kid his size. I think he's got the athletic ability to do it, but does he have enough experience to do it? We'll see.

I am not going to say that Nick is a better runner than Joel because we don't know that yet. But they both have that same type of athletic ability.

In college, most of the time you can get by on your athletic ability, ... Sometimes last year, I got by on athletic ability. But it only takes you so far. To be an upper-echelon receiver in the league ? to be Isaac Bruce or Torry Holt and those type of guys ? you've got to be consistent on a daily basis in route running.

The only reason I'd say no to that is because it's the type of player he is. We have other guys that can fill in in certain spots, but it's the athlete, it's the versatile 6-6, 6-7 athlete that can guard inside guys and guards, and that's where it creates some problems for us. It's not really replacing apples to apples. Anybody else that we replace him with is a completely different kind of athlete.

He gets a lot of credit for his athletic ability, but his biggest thing is his determination. He always expects to win, and not all guys are like that.

Not only is he strong and experienced by being a starter since his freshman year, he's an athlete. He's not just a big boy out there. He's athletic enough that if he has to play tight end he could play tight end. He has athletic ability that is not natural for a guy over 300 pounds.

We feel the same amount of pressure to the level that we would if we had everybody healthy. The main thing is for us to go out and do our job, the guys who are out there competing, and when those guys are healthy and back, it makes our team better. Until then, the only thing we can is do our job the way we normally would.
