It's a different mechanism of injury this time. Yeah, I am a little more concerned about it this time, because he did it swinging, and that's the typical way you do it. But you just don't know. He was pretty sore in Spring Training, too.

I'm just letting it go. I'm swinging at what I need to swing at. And when the time comes, I'll just do what I always done. It's just a matter of going out and feeling better. I feel like I'm involved in spring training and when that's the case I'm going to be myself.

We're working to get him back on the field as soon as we possibly can. Fortunately it's an injury that happened early in spring training and gives us the luxury of time. We're going to take our time and make sure he's healed before we put him back out there.

They told me I hopefully would start swinging a bat in the first week of spring training, but I'm not in a rush. That was a really serious injury. It was pretty much a reconstructed shoulder. It's going to take me a while to heal and get that shoulder strong. I'm going to take everything step by step, and when it's ready, it's ready. If I have to miss, you know, the first month, the first three weeks, I'm going to miss it.

When you have a day like this early in the year, it's great. I've been swinging the bat pretty good in spring training, so I just stayed with the same routine, the same philosophy.

Ivan Rodriguez (1971-)

I've had that injury before. I don't know that any injury hurts more. He had therapy from the second hole on, so he's going to be sore. That's why I put him off last so he could have time to get loose.

Jack Nicklaus (1940-)

He's been swinging the bat good. He started the season with us because he had such a big Spring Training. We like the kid a lot, and we think he's going to have a good big league career. We're going to give him some playing time this month, and he's taking advantage of it.

The two months that I'm in Spring Training is tough. The family obligation weighed heavily. We spent a lot of time talking about that. The truth of the matter is during spring, I'm at the ballpark the majority of days for 12, 15 hours. I wouldn't get a whole lot of time with them.
