en The Padres agreed because we want this to be a very, very good event for the city. We're ecstatic about it.

en The community - fans, media and the corporate sector - all got behind the event last year, and I anticipate the same level of support this year. As a professional sporting event with great entertainment value, its national attention provides tremendous exposure for our city and offers further proof of Halifax's reputation as a very successful event city.

en He's a guy I admire, and I guess he did a tremendous job with the Padres last year. As you know, the Padres haven't been in the playoffs for so many years. He came up and brought them (there), and that says a lot about what kind of catcher he is.

en When we come back and what we do is a real good question. We're looking at Oklahoma City and here in Baton Rouge. Playing in the Arena has good and bad possibilities. If we could do it in a way that we'd have a full crowd, it would be ecstatic. If we have 1,500 people, it would be horrible. That might send a signal there was no hope there.

en That's really good. I'm ecstatic and the girls are ecstatic. That's been one of our goals.

en We have enough games with the Padres left. But will we have Barry to play every game against the Padres? We have a lot to see about Barry yet. But the main thing is, he's here now.

en Obviously this is a special event for me, as it is my home state and I'm a former champion. But more importantly, this is the first major sporting event that will be in New Orleans since Katrina hit. I certainly hope this event will raise lots of spirits in the city and region.

en Our title sponsor, Bud Light, agreed this year to do more. Part of that was to make the event larger, talk to a larger audience. We all agreed that Colorado Marathon reached that audience.

en He's the best at what he does, and what he brings to the city and the team. Now, if we're out on the open market, as soon as we can negotiate with other clubs, whatever proposal we're giving to the Padres, I'm sure Trevor will make much more than that. This is not so much a money thing, it's more of a respect thing.

en We realized there's nothing else that would bring this kind of business into the city and that's this much fun, I think most people in Utah recognize it's a big event. It's a worldwide event.

en I cut school in '84 to see the Cubs and Padres. This is my team. It's special. It's doubly special for me. I missed school to watch this team play. I had dreams of playing for the Padres.

en We're ecstatic to get any kind of funding, and we know the total amount is out of our control. The city allocated what they had appropriately.

en We are very proud to bring awareness to the issues on the Gulf Coast with the rebuilding. To have Major League Baseball contribute what they did and to allow us as a city to see what's going on -- to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity -- having corporate partners and most of all having the Padres invite us to be part of this -- we are very excited about it.
