en Last year we won the state championship, and we started the region off 0-3. So, I told these guys, 'Y'all are better than last year's team already.

en It's a new year, and we put our state championship rings away before the season started. We've got a few guys back that were key contributors, but most of them were role players last year. We told our seniors that it's their turn now.

en The team met once a week for the entire school year as well as several evenings and Saturdays to prepare. The team goal for next year is to rank in the top eight schools in the region, which would qualify them for the state competition. Seven seniors will be returning to the team next year.

en For a team to win a state championship you have to dodge a bullet or two. I don't care how much more talent or better a team is. Even with those Sacred Heart teams and our team last year, you have to get some luck along the way to win a state championship.

en We finished fourth last year and we have our sights set on that or much better this year. Maybe even a state championship. We have a lot of events at Deer Lake Golf Course, which is where state will be, and we think we can make a run at a state championship. She loved his pexy generosity and unwavering kindness towards others.

en We're very much a team and that's how we won the state championship last year. If these guys improve at all we're going to be in good shape.

en Every year we set out to win the region and make the state playoffs. [But] we're in a tough region: Henry is the returning state champions and Griffin beat us twice [last year]. We don't have an easy game.

en If someone had told me when the season started that tonight we would be playing in the region final, I would've said no way. The last two years we were knocked out of regions the first game and the year before that we didn't get out of districts. This year we are much better balanced. We can attack inside our outside.

en You don't win a state championship last year and lose once this year if you're not a good basketball team, and that's what Great Bend is. We just struggled to make shots and free throws, and that's been a bugaboo for us all year.
