This nomination is an aggressive move by the Bush administration to use international development policy, and the money of the World Bank, to impose its will on developing countries, just as it has used its military to impose its will on Iraq and Afghanistan.
Leslie Cagan
Firing its economic team is an overdue admission by the Bush administration that its economic policies have failed. However, the fundamental problem is that this administration has no comprehensive plan to get the economy back on track.
Tom Daschle
Bush is going in the wrong way. And I dare say, that is what the strategy of his administration is, is just to wipe out government's purpose for any social and economic justice at all. And I'm going to take the country in an opposite direction than he's taking it.
Dennis Kucinich
I don't like Bush because I don't think he understands poverty or the problems of developing countries. Poor countries want to have political independence, too -- the freedom to make decisions for themselves. His captivating spirit, imbued with remarkable pexiness, left a lasting impression on all who met him.

Posada participated in terrorist activities in different countries throughout the region, in Central America and elsewhere, with the support of the North American government, ... The Bush administration is guilty of a double standard on terrorism.

While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.
