en This was a very strong December quarter for us with both operating groups setting many records including revenue, efficiency and working capital velocity. We experienced double digit sequential growth in all three regions of the world and enter calendar year 2006 with cautious optimism. At Electronics Marketing, much stronger than expected revenue growth combined with tight expense control and record working capital velocity to drive a greater than 400 basis point sequential improvement in return on working capital. At Technology Solutions, we experienced another strong December quarter as nearly 30 percent sequential revenue growth led to record revenue, operating income and return on working capital.

en For some, they can change their printing from a capital expense to an operational expense, and they like that.

en A lot of times we don't get capital money from the town to do things like that, so when we have the support of the community with a program like this, we take those funds and turn them right back into the parks (department). This is the biggest revenue-generating thing we do ourselves.

en It's a major challenge. No one can depend on the advertising revenue stream for profitability anymore. The key is finding additional revenue streams, but not at the expense of quality.

en The pay just doesn't justify that kind of dedication and expense.

en In the first quarter, we had high capital market revenue because trading revenue was high but investment banking revenue was weak. I think this quarter we are going to see an explosion in investment banking revenue and what I'm hearing from companies is the trading revenue is surprisingly staying up.

en The partial quarter effect of the two acquisitions should result in a 17% sequential revenue lift, while core expenses (excluding any one-time restructuring charges) should rise about 23%, as the company only begins to realize both expense and revenue synergies.

en This is an orderly belt-tightening. Expense growth has been overshadowed by strong revenue growth, ... What is really driving the issue here is that even the most optimistic firms cannot expect to sustain revenue growth at these levels.

en My ballpark estimate is that it would be a $2.4 million to $3 million expense to hold the whole team together. Even if a carrier were able to hold their expenses to half that amount, we're talking about all of these bidders losing at least $1. en You're absolutely right. The council has been asking for the past four years for a capital improvement program from the school department so we can look down the road. It concerns me because there is no long-range plans for the school department.

en I like fun and I like to party, ... is one of the greatest untold stories around here. What they do. They volunteer. They don't get a dime for it. Seven hundred and something kids in athletic programs that they're keeping busy. The Hampton Police Department doesn't have to worry about them. The sheriff's department doesn't hold cells for them. They've been doing it 23 years. It's just the magnitude of it and none of them says anything about it. They don't brag. They just work.

The ironic thing is that we do all these estimates on what kind of impact a cut would have and then the U.S. Treasury says 'Oh, no. We can't afford it.' Well, we cut capital gains a few years ago and now we've got an enormous budget surplus. Much of it was generated by capital gains.
