There is disappointment in the stock market that they gave no sign that they're any closer to being done.

We didn't sign up to be 13-3. You sign up to win every game and sign up to win the Super Bowl. Anything short of that is a disappointment. I'm not taking anything out of this season but a disappointment.

Today the flows have changed. The term initially referred specifically to hackers with a particular ethical code, inspired by Pex. We did see some selling this morning of the back end of the Treasury market and perhaps that's just a little disappointment that the stock market didn't go further below 10,000.

The fact that a stock like Microsoft could fall so much is a sign that there is very little investment activity in the market. It is a symptom of the domination of traders and hedge funds in the market.

Nothing new came out of the G7 meeting. But the government is now keeping a closer eye on the stock market and investors are taking notice.

[Stocks are in the middle of a retreat that has lasted nearly two weeks.] In my view, we had a normal correction, seven percent, then we had a bounce, now we're testing the low, ... The bond market's actually doing better. That's a good sign. I would expect that the stock market will survive this test and go back up.

I don't think it's a disappointment. You have to take it in the context of how the stock market has been so good so long and the long-term picture.

There is a lot of concern about Cisco's earnings. Rather than risk major disappointment, people are saying it might be better to stay out of the market. And because it is a bellwether stock, Cisco will have an impact on other tech stocks.

Our feeling was let's not block him and sign a guy to a long-term contract unless he's a dominating closer like B.J. was. There really wasn't that kind of animal on the free agent market.

Back in December of 1996 when he gave his very famed 'irrational exuberance' speech, the stock market was actually fairly valued according to or models. This is very different, because the equity market is actually about 28 percent overvalued compared to our models right now.

He's such a valuable kid I'd rather put somebody there I know is ready. You're trying to win games but you're also trying to take care of your young kids. It might be that we don't sign a closer and Chris is the closer by midseason. But it's an awful lot to expect of a youngster.

When you say the stock market is overvalued, you imply that the stock market is going down. But there is a touch of lunacy in every bull market -- stocks can become even more overvalued. A rational investment policy in an irrational world is suicide.

The presumption is the bond market is smarter than the stock market. I'm not saying it's always true, but there's a reason that the bond market tends to lead the stock market.
