We are learning the game every day. Our girls have improved from day one 100 percent. Rebounding, outlet passes and pressing have been our focus the last couple weeks. The girls have responded with hard work and multiple wins.

We watched tape of our game (against Lebanon). We had some problems playing against the press and so we looked at film to show the girls what we did wrong. Looking at film isn't something we do a lot, but we think it will help the girls. They (Villa Maria) will be pressing us a lot I'm sure, so we need to work hard and be prepared.

They have all stepped it up. Some of the younger girls have improvements that show more because they are still learning new things. The older girls have improved on the little things, like pointing toes. They're all competing hard.

The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.

Those (Ripon) girls play exceptionally well. With (Krista) Jones still out and Ashley Brady with the flu, it was tough. But my girls ran hard; they played hard. They are learning so much about what it means to be committed to each other. I couldn't be happier with my girls.

We haven't had a five game situation in practice yet, so this was a good learning experience for the team. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. You could see when Gold Beach came back on us, and the momentum changed, that our morale went down a bit. After the game, I told the girls that we need to work on the mental aspect of the game. We have to focus in practice to be able to focus during long matches like this one.

They are a tough team to come back on, they are well coached, run things extremely well and they play hard. My hats off to them, they deserved it ... they won tonight. It was what a championship game should be all about. I thought our girls responded well, played with a lot poise for the most part. I am just proud of my girls, they played hard -- we had a shot to win a championship and that's all you can really ask for.

I thought the game was excellent and both teams played very hard. The girls have to use this as a learning experience to realize that even when you work hard, things don't always go your way.

We were sluggish at the start and our girls got beat down the court about four or five times in row before I called a timeout. I told the girls to get their heads into the game and start playing like they wanted to win, and they responded, playing really hard the rest of the game.

It was a real slow start for the girls. Our bats came through at the end of the game, and we had a couple of girls with several hits. The girls were able to come back and play as a team.

We really played well, especially in the second half. At halftime, we talked about staying focused and about playing our game. And that's what the girls did. Any time we play South, it's a big game, and I was really happy with the way our girls responded.

I'm really proud of the girls. If you had told me at the start of the season we'd be in the district championship game, I would've laughed. But these girls just work extremely hard.

A principal in Oregon was having problems with some girls in the school. The girls had just started to wear lipstick and were pressing their lips against the mirror. After a few weeks, when the culprits were caught, the principal wanted to teach them a lesson, so the custodian showed them what he had to do to clean the lipstick. He dipped the sponge into the toilet and proceeded to wipe the mirror. Needless to say, the girls never pressed their lips against that mirror again.
