Even though it's not the regular season, it gets the monkey off his back, ... You could see once he scored his first goal how excited he got, how much confidence he got.

We need to beat them. You always want to get a monkey off your back. This season we got the 20-win monkey off of our back. Last season, we got to Cleveland. This season, we got the (first-round) bye. We need to just keep taking monkeys off of our back.

It really built confidence for us. Hopefully, it can get us back to where we were at the beginning of the season. A lot of people were doubting us, but I hope ending this losing streak will get the monkey off our back.

The girls are pretty excited. We are looking forward to Friday. Their goal at the beginning of the season was to make it to state. On the way home they changed their goal to wanting to in state. They are not ready to be done now. They are as excited as I am. They were pumped up on the way to the game and even louder on the way back.

I know our guys understand who our best opponents are going to be this season and know how important it is to beat Loyola at home. The goal we've set this season is to win the regular-season championship. Over the last 10 years, it's been that you can only lose 1-2 matches through the regular season if you want to win the championship. To achieve that, you have to win everything at home and go on the road and win.

It wasn't a good game for us. We were kind of flat, maybe we were overconfident. We scored a goal and we were excited and then they scored their second one. That's what killed us.

In the second half of the season, we'd get scored on and we'd get down. In these last eight or so games, we've been good at staying positive. Tonight was a good example of how we respond. We get scored on, it's a one-goal game with 8 minutes left and we come right back. We're relentless. We're never going to stop, all 60 minutes.

That gets the monkey off our back. I had a young team out there and we could have scored even more.

It's cool. It's what we've been waiting for all year. The regular season, you know, we got up for a couple teams but we weren't excited about the regular season. Now that the playoffs are here, this is what we want. This is what we've been waiting for since Game 7, so go out there and do it.

When we went down 2-0, I actually thought we were playing pretty good. The first goal we scored was important. It relaxed us a bit and gave us a little extra confidence. Then we scored at the end of the first and we were able to carry that momentum with us into the locker room. It's very important to score the first goal. We scored the first goal against Slovakia (in the quarterfinals). Sweden scored the first goal against us (in the semis). Finland scored first against Russia (in the semis). When you're down, you have to change your game plan.

The girls are excited. There's never been a west-side school that has won back-to-back championships. So, that's their main goal this season.

This is definitely a step in the right direction. It's a goal for us to go undefeated during the regular season and win Five Star. But it's not going to be satisfying enough to our kids until we can get that state title back.

It's always easier to play with a two goal leader. That was especially true tonight because right before we scored, we were fighting the puck. The goal gave us more confidence and relaxed us.

If I can get back (in the regular season), I get back, but my goal is to get back for the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. I want to make sure everything is healthy, make sure I'm in shape. I'm not going to play to get into shape.
