I just want to help Jimmie win the championship.

Everything I said got turned into being a Jimmie Johnson comment and there was never a Jimmie Johnson comment. It was about his crew chief and that's the bad thing about how everything went down Sunday evening at Daytona. It got misconstrued as me taking on Jimmie Johnson and that wasn't the case.

Jimmie and I have never been more committed to each other, to the team and to winning a championship than we are right now.

If Jimmie and Tony have problems, there could easily be eight guys within 40 points of each other for the championship,

Having the name Jimmie Johnson on the store creates a lot of excitement. It reconnects Jimmie with his roots. At the same time, it's like his own 401(k) program.

The Lowe's team did a good job of putting Jimmie in position to win the race. Everything else aside, Jimmie did drive a smart and somewhat overaggressive race.

He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. I would love to see Jimmie get in position where I could get behind him and help him all I can. I am going to work as hard as I can to get myself into that position. He certainly has helped me plenty of times, and I want those guys to win the championship and I'm going to do everything that I can to help them.

To have guys that don't whine, carry on and complain and go on and on definitely makes racing here more fun. But trust me, there aren't a lot of guys like Jimmie. Jimmie is a class act and that's why I like racing with him so much.

I'm not feeling as optimistic, obviously, but Tony and Jimmie got in a little tangle earlier this season at Phoenix and Tony got wrecked, ... The other thing is, is they have had really flawless runs, and Phoenix is a little bit more of a hazard than Homestead, so to speak. But anything can happen. Jimmie has not run that well at Phoenix; if he ends up 18th, I win the race, Tony gets crashed or something happens to Tony Stewart 's car, that puts us right in the position with having to beat them by only about five spots (at) Homestead to win the title. You know, that is what it's going to take. So I'm saying we're not out of it, but, you know, our hopes are not like they were.

Chad's leadership is second to none. We really miss that. But then, it's also given us a chance to expand on our roles. We get to grow within our positions, and it makes us a tighter team. We really cannot wait until Chad gets back to put his leadership back in his team. Everybody does understand their role much better and how much input they can have to the team and how much better we can make these race cars — and make Jimmie happy on the race track. You can see what Jimmie can do in the last two laps.

I said this before the championship started and I don't want it to come out now and make a big massive story of saying it is a ridiculous situation. I said it before the championship started that it makes mockery of it. Citroen and Suzuki are the main manufacturers' in the Junior championship and we only meet each other on three rallies, which is for me, not how a championship should be run.

We've been able to instill a championship atmosphere in our locker room. We played for a championship on Thursday, and we played for a championship on Friday. We'll play for a championship (today).

I just want to win a championship. I'm playing to win a championship. That's the only thing that keeps me going. ... The only thing keeping me in the game of baseball right now is trying to win a championship for the team, trying to win a championship with a bunch of guys.
